The Best GPR/AEGD Programs off the top of my head that I know by talking to past residents are as follows:
NY GPR/AEGD:
Montefiore GPR
LICH GPR
North Shore VA GPR
Jamaica GPR
Queens Hospital GPR
Manhattan VA GPR
Brooklyn VA GPR
LIJ Hospital GPR
St. Lukes Roosevelt GPR
Lutheran Medical Center AEGD
Montrose/Castle Point VA AEGD
Connecticut:
University of Connecticut AEGD (not showing any bias here)
Hartford Hospital GPR in Connecticut
Delaware:
Christiana Care GPR in Delaware
Pennsylvania:
Allegheny General Hospital GPR in Pittsburgh
University of Pittsburg AEGD
Temple University AEGD
VA in Philadelphia GPR
Two things to remember:
1) AEGD programs tend to be harder to get accepted into than most GPR's for the most part. There is no bias, because I am doing neither. I talk to residents and past residents, they say you will get much more out of an AEGD program than a GPR, because all 12 months are devoted to General Dentistry for the most part. In GPR's there are Medical rotations etc. that cut out of your time in General Dentistry, they are less practical. The bad thing is that AEGD's pay a lot less, like 25-30K as compared to 49-55K in a GPR. Well, to each's own. People may have different goals, pretty much choose the program geared towards what you personally want to get out of a program. Remember everyone is different.
2) These are the best programs off the top of my head, and whom I have actually talked to people about. I am sure you wont go wrong by choosing any of these programs suggested above.
PM if you have any questions. Im not on that often, so excuse a delayed response. As far as for me, I opted out of a PGY-1 program and will be working under my Dad this upcoming Fall.
Hope this helped.👍
