NYC away rotation

Hey guys,

Any suggestions of a good place to do an ophtho away rotation in NYC?

My main criteria is to find a place where I'll get a good experience, really get my foot in the door in terms of admissions, and enough interaction with faculty to hopefully get a letter. Any thoughts?

Interaction with the faculty... NYC in general probably isn't your best bet. The faculty barely interacts with the residents at most places there.

Yeah I hear ya--but any idea of some good options in NYC overall for aways?

I know 3 upperclassman from my school who did an away at NYEEI and 2 loved it, one hated it. One of those who loved it matched there. The other one didn't even get an interview. So it totally depends on how you prove yourself there (+ all your application of course).
They all said it's long hours, but you get to see patients on your own and present to residents and attendings.
