Hey, I've been reading that many of you are thinking about not attending an interview in NYC simply because the cost of hotels is so high.

It's true, most hotels start at over $250 a night... and most are over $350... The list that Columbia gave out has ridiculously expensive rooms. But I did my own search on the internet and found a hostel WITH a private room and a private bathroom for a little over $100 a night.

Check out: http://www.hostelnewyork.com

Most people don't consider hostels before an interview because they have the reputation of having only shared rooms and/or shared bathrooms. But if you look around enough, you can find a private room & bathroom for decent NY price.

:luck:

new york is ridiculous. I can say that because i am from there, but really, it is ridiculous. five times as expensive as anywhere else and 5 times as shiiittyy too. I think there is a homeless shelter across the street from columbia. It's probably only $150 a night there with a hot meal.

another option (not as convenient) is to stay someplace north of nyc. just go to the nyc mta website and look at the map of metro north. the metro north trains run all the time (and are reasonablypriced). you could just take a $5 taxi to the metro station then head into ny and get off at 125th street/Harlem and either take a bus toward the west and hope on the A/C or even take a cab---it'd be around $15.
