NYCOM Acceptance Letters

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Hi-

My name is Shannon, and I am also a committed NYCOM student for the fall. I have compiled a list of currently commited students for our class that includes our names, email addresses, and AIM names. If you would like access to the list and your information to be added to the list, shoot me a pm with the information and I will send it on over. I am also planning social get togethers all in NYC once a month until we start school, so we can get to know each other, find potential roommates, study groups, and friends, and just get excited about our future. You should also check out our MySpace group that another classmate, Jess, has put together for us! Congratulations on your acceptance! I really look forward to hearing from and meeting all of you!

-Shannon

I just called and she won't tell me.

"Good morning, I interviewed several weeks ago and was just curious of the statue of my application"

Silence

"your last name?.....the letters went out yesterday and yours was with them"

"Can you tell me if I'll be happy with the decision??" 🙄

" I can't give out any information over the phone." :scared:

How can I tell the difference between the mean lady and the nice lady?? I just talked to the one with the slightly deeper voice.

I just talked to ms. croot and she wouldn't tell me either...I hope this doesn't mean bad news 🙁

Hi-

In the past, students have told me once letters are mailed, they cannot tell you one way or the other. I know if the letters have been printed but not yet mailed, they have told people. This may or may not be true this cycle, but hopefully it brings you a little solice. Keep us updated, and I will you in my thoughts!

:luck:

This seems to be the case. Why though? What difference does it make whether they tell you before or after they mail the letter? The decision has already been made. 😕

Maybe because they actually can read the letter when it is in your file and they did not make a master list of incoming students yet.

Anyhow the lasy that won't give out info is not mean. She is just not giving out the info that you will be getting anyway. I had to wait for the letter after calling as well.

Still waiting guys. I'm guessing I'll hear either today or tomorrow. Anyone get rejected yet?

I did, however, manage to get rejected from Robert Wood today. Yayyy! 🙄
Jason, when did you interview?

Oh wow, When I read that I got scared, I thought Robert Wood was a person from NYCOM, I had to google it!!

I interviewed on 1/26 in the am, how about you?

rotfl, that is halarious! By Friday, i am telling you. Trust me, i am almost sure you guys all got in. I would be shocked if this round included rejections. If they did, very very small minority. Last 48 hours, hang in there.

You got the email yesterday too? 🙄

Yup. I don't understand why they couldn't just type it into the text of the email... making us open the attachment and all just to confirm the worst. I feel like it was too elaborate for the 2 or 3 sentences they pumped out.

Haha, yeah. I thought there was a chance it could be an interview invite from the way it was worded. 👎

Yeah, seriously! Me too! I guess I'm old-fashioned but I think they could've at least spent $0.39 on a stamp to send a rejection letter. We had to spend extra money on a stamp to send in their $75 secondary app fee! And besides, if they had written it in the actual email, they could've personalised it - instead of having no "dear Student Blah Blah" greeting at all. 👎

Has anyone that interviewed Jan 24 or later received a letter in the mail that stated they were accepted. I called and they told me I was in but a letter in the mail will make it feel totally official. Has any accepted students begun to file for financial aid? The earlier the better.

You don't need to be accepted to any medical schools to apply for financial aid. Apply now.

By financial aid do you mean FAFSA? Already filed that one, and I hope you guys did too, not quite sure what else to do besides hunt for private scholarships.....TAP won't do much good, thats for sure.

Be glad they told you! I called twice yesterday and they won't tell me if I got in or not, just that my letter was sent on tuesday....still nothing yet ( I interviewed 1/26 )

Yeah, no kidding, this waiting is killing me. I keep going over my interview in my head and can't seem to stop. :scared: Sometimes I think it went well, other times I think it went okay. Checked the mail on my lunch break but nothing yet. Hopefully tomorrow.

nothing from nycom today but rejected from kcom...i hope this isn't forshadowing :scared:

This is so rediculous that they tell half the people on the phone they've been accepted and then leave the other half of us with no word at all...I think i'm going to call tomorrow and complain because their behaviour really is unprofessional

You're right, it is completely unprofessional and unfair - but when I called them out on it, they claimed they're not telling anyone over the phone, so I dunno whats going on. No word for me either, and I interviewed on Thursday the 19th. If I don't hear by tomorrow, I'm gonna lose it.

Sorry to hear about kcom, but hopefully I'll see you on the island!

These are my last three so use them wisely. See you in August.

I just got today's mail. NOTHING! - and I live 5 minutes from NYCOM. I guess local ppl will get it tomorrow and ppl outside NY next week or Saturday. Here's what the letter looks like if it means anything.

NYCOM 2010

Did you get this over the phone or did you actually get a letter? Congrats to you!

Thanks guys!!
You'll hear soon, hang in there. I found out in the mail today - I think they might be mailing them out according to when you interviewed, bc Timbo found out earlier this week and he interviewed two days before me?? I dunno, theres no rhyme or reason, but hang in there!

in the previous batch of acceptances my letter was dated the same as others but mailed out a little later. I live in Queens and recevied my letter about 3-4 day after the first person got an acceptance letter from our batch.

I think my mail man is playing a trick on me because it shouldn't take a letter a week to go from Long Island to Delaware!! Boo for Monday being a federal holiday which means no mail...arrrrrrrrr 😡

so i've sent in LORs in early december, and have still not heard back for an interview invite (i would LOVE to go to NYCOM), however, the LORs did not include an osteopathic physician....is it to late to send it as an additional? has anyone received an interview to NYCOM without a DO LOR?

I don't think its too late to send anything, especially if NYCOM's your top choice. If you have a letter from a DO I would def. send it in. I don't remember if it's required or not but when I went for my interview the secretary was going through my file and asked where my letter from my DO was and I said its from Dr. X and she had to go through the pile again to find it and she put it on top.

My NYCOM file was complete in october and I got the invite in January. They like to keep you waiting, I interviewed almost 4 weeks ago and still haven't heard back from them!

Yup! Accepted too. 😀 I just have an MD letter.

IT'S OFFICIAL!!!!!!!!!!!!! I live 1 zip code away from NYCOM, so if you claim you received your letter before today that is just crap, but, sooooooooooo happy, congrats to everyone, nycom class of 2010 baby!!!!!!!!!!!! Get Psyched!

Congrats Timbo!! But how are you entering med school in august and graduating before the end of the year?? 😀

i still haven't gotten my letter but i do know i got in 🙂

Last year, I forgot to send NYCOM my LORs. A month after my interview I got a phone call saying they would like some letters. I asked my advisor to send them some and they dated my acceptance on that same day.

Holy crap guys, I just received my acceptance to NYCOM, my first and probably only acceptance. I'm gonna be a doctor!! You guys don't know how little sleep I have gotten over the past week worrying about this. I can't even describe the feeling!!! This is also to show that someone with a low MCAT can get into med school...I had a high GPA but still this is proof..I'm not a URM. See you all on the Island...I'm going to party!!!

I had no Dr. letters and I got accepted, my interviewer said he was the same way
