so did anyone else get there NYCOM bill before their financial aid packet? It's good to see they are on the ball about getting their own money, even though I have no way to pay for it yet apparently. Just wondering why they are taking so long to get those out i guess. If anyone has any news that would be great.

Yes, I got that bill today. Sure, I'll write that check for $15,425.50 right now! No problema!

And no, I have not received my financial aid info yet either. Are they kidding or what?

alright, well at least my troubles aren't being experienced alone there. I have to hand it to NYCOM though, they are defintely always on top of things when it comes to them getting their money. I just wish they could get on the ball for everything else. Oh well, again we play the waiting game.

Folks,

Dont worry terribly about the bill. They just send it out because believe it or not, many students pay the bill in full on their own and these people need to know how much it is to plan appropriately. Financial Aid usually works in order of seniority, they get the 4th years on track first since they dont really have a break, then the 3rd years, then second, then first. If you've begun the process with FAFSA, etc, you're ahead of the game. If not, no big deal. The later your loan is dispersed, the less interest you pay, so hold tight.

thanks ocean, I appreciate any stress relief I can get.

Don't sweat it...they're gonna keep sending you bills until your loans are dispersed. Just make sure you've submitted all of your paper work and ignore the bills.

do they automatically include the health insurance in your tuition? do i have to call them to get it taken off? i dont need it for my first year (thanks dad!)

You'll get the insurance application forms soon, either in the mail or during orientation. If you do not need the insurance, there's a waiver that you have to sign and hand in during orientation. The bills that everyone is receiving DOES NOT include insurance. So, for those of you that are plannig on getting the school insurance, remember to factor in another $3,000.

Good luck everyone and enjoy the summer!!

Hey:

I thought Health Insurance only cost $100 and then Life and Disability is $105 .......Where does the $3000 come from???

Please help!

Dr. Daisy.

at nycom the people who do financial aid and the bursar are different depts, so while you may get a bill from bursar, which is computer generated, it doesnt mean you have to write a check.
if youre not sure call up financial aid and they take care of you

hi all,
i got the bill too...and i actually marched to finaid and asked them what the deal is. these were the lady's exact words:
"if you applied for financial aid, forget about these bills. they will be all taken care of."

mine had a "due date" of july 1st--so i asked her about that and she said that it will be all sorted out somewhere in the NYCOM bureaucracy. don't worry about it.

yup.

my mom freaked out when she saw that bill... poor thing. she didnt know how she would come up with 15grand by july 1!

chrisobean, that's just wrong to laugh at yo mommy!!! 😉 I'm sure she would have did everything in her power to get that cash for your tuition. 👍
