On a side note, does NYCOM have preference for instaters (of course me being an instater I ask this 🙂)? I so want to go there but no love from them yet 🙁

I believe they do have some preference for NYS residents. Good luck, i hope you hear from them soon! It's my first choice too 🙂

I'm with you DrCurious, I'm from NYC and still no love from NYCOM 🙁

there's the marriot near the coliseum in uniondale, not too far from the campus.

the marriot is proably pretty expensive i think there are some hotels in plainview that may be cheaper

did anyone else schedule their interview there yet? where are you guys planning on staying? is there a LIR station near the school? Is it a long drive from brooklyn or queens, anyone know? thanks a lot! sorry for all the questions 🙂

I have my interview on 11/8. I'm planning on taking the LIRR and then either transferring to a bus or just take the cab.

This is my interview letter from last yr I don't know if u got it, but theres Fairfield Inn in Syosset, Howard Johnson on Jericho Turnpike, and East Norwich Inn in East Norwich...I know the Howard Johnson is close to the school but I never stayed there...U can stay in Manhattan or Queens but it'll be pretty expensive...

When I interviewed I just took the LIRR to greenvale and got in a cab, it was pretty easy...

Good Luck

Getting to NYCOM
NYCOM is located at approximately 40.81N / - 73.6W, that is, on Northern Boulevard in Old Westbury, New York on the Old Westbury Campus of New York Institute of Technology.

The Long Island Railroad can take you to Westbury ( from Penn station in Manhattan and several locations on Long Island) and a Taxi will take you to the campus some six miles north.

Metropolitan Suburban Bus Authority Route N20, Flushing-Hicksville bus Via Northern Boulevard serves the Old Westbury Campus on weekdays . Make sure you have something to read.

By car, take the Long Island Expressway to Exit 39N (Glen Cove Road North). Follow Glen Cove Road north to Northern Boulevard (Route 25A). Turn right onto Northern Boulevard and continue east for just over a mile to NYIT entrance on the right. Follow the signs to NYCOM. Travel about 0.6 miles on the main road to the NYCOM cluster of buildings. Park in the parking lots on the left and cross the road to the NYCOM circle.

McArthur airport in Central Islip, Long Island ( Check Southwest Airlines for lower cost flights), La Guardia and JFK airports in Metro New York all serve Long Island. All these airports are served by major car rental and limousine companies. JFK is also connected to the Long Island Railroad at the Jamaica Station by the Airtrain

I don't have a car so I use the LIRR at least a couple of times/week. By taxi, the Greenvale train station is about 5 minutes from campus and the westbury station is about 20 minutes from campus. The Roslyn Taxi company charges $21 for NYCOM to Westbury train station and I think $11 for Greenvale. Roslyn Taxi's phone number is (516) 621-1111. Try to call 1 hour in advance to make a reservation. There is a taxi service in Westbury that I used a few times but the dispatcher is rude and they charge about the same I think. I use the Roslyn Taxi service for either station. When catching your train back add 20 minutes to the driving time since sometimes the taxis are 5-10 minutes late and traffic in LI sux.

My suggestion is the Greenvale station. Check the LIRR schedule since the trains run about every 30-1hour sometimes with a 2 hour break in the schedule.

LIRR fare from NYC to Greenvale is about $6.50 each way if you purchase the ticket before boarding.

If you take the LIRR from NYC you will have to transfer in Jamaica queens going to either station.

Last year we were not really able to predict the exact time/order of interviews so maybe you need to bring that up at the start of your interview. Last year I ran into a nice group at my interview and we shared a cab and took the LIRR back so we waited for each other to finish interviews since there was no rush.

:luck:
