Nycom speed bumps!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Never been to NYCOM but.... My car has very low clearance and I have never had a problem with speed bumps or large speed humps. You just have to slow down, which is the point of them anyway 😛

The only problem I could see is if you lowered your car in which case speed bumps will be one of many clearance problems.

😆 if this is the biggest dilemma so far for you.

Speed bumps are designed for cars, not trucks. If you have a car with normal ground clearance you shouldn't have difficulty with the bumps other than normal wear and tear on your car's suspension. That can be mitigated by not driving too fast over them (which is the point of the speed bump).

 This brightened my day! Again, just go slowly over the speed bumps and you'll be fine. What kind of car are you thinking of getting?

The NYCOM speed bumps are ******ED. I am a fourth year there, and if i remember correctly, they installed them last year. And thank god i wasnt going back and forth everyday cause you seriously have to CRAWL over them or you will bang your car. I drive a 1998 toyota camry, which is not an SUV by any means...and even if i got 5 mph i hit the bottom. It was a good idea to install them cause i personally skid out on the wet roads (my falut flying to class) and saw a few accidents, but the contracter they got must have been giving out discounts cause the bumps are too wide and just not properly constructed.
I hope this helped, i'm not the only NYCOMer who thinks they are ******ed, but i guess on the type of car opinions may differ.

It's so funny that you bring this up. When I was at nycom the other day I was actually seriously considering about coming in with a sledge hammer and getting rid of them myself before I start next year. They are so annoying. Three on a short stretch of road from the main entrance. What is the point of that?

I'll join xtina0 in sledge-hammering those god awful bumps. The NYCOM bumps hurt my car and maybe even my neck...

The "old" bumps from 2-3 years ago were MUCH better. Why the f#@! were they even repaved? I guess that's where our tuition $$ went.

I went there the night before my interview and I found those stupid bright signs incredibly distracting while driving. You know, it's all dark and stuff in the forest, and then BANG a bright TV screen as soon as you enter the NYCOM campus.

Haha I do need an accomplice!
