it took the longest time for AACOMAS to process my app... so while i was waiting, I checked out the 3 schools I applied to (NYCOM, UMDNJ, and PCOM) to find their secondaries.

UMDNJ is on their website, and PCOM has already contacted me by mail.

does NYCOM have a secondary, and if so how will i receive it?

nycom will send you a secondary if they want to interview. meaning, after they review your application, they'll send you a secondary if they're interested in interviewing you.

it's good in the sense that they don't take your money and run...like other schools do. 🙂

It's true about the nycom secondary that they send it to you if they want to interview. But, as for the part about not taking your money and running is not at tall true.

NYCOM requires a 1000 deposit to hold your seat which is ridiculous, unlike most school with a max of 250. Plus its non refundable.

My friend at UNDNJ said, 25 people in his class were accepted to nycom and paid 1000 and didnt go, so do the math, thats 25000 they made right there on NON STUDENTS, thats outrageous.

Give me a friggin break. UMDNJ only had like 75-100 people in their entire class, so you're telling me 25% of them paid the deposit at nycom? What, did they take a poll in lecture? Please. I turned down umdnj and lost my deposit there 3 years ago. It's part of the game.

I think the $1000 deposit is aimed at exactly people like you... if you're a fence sitter, then the school would rather not have you and they'll be happy to offer your seat to someone who does want it and has nycom as their #1 choice.

Have most schools gone to refundable deposits? Because when I applied I dont remember any school refunding my deposit...

Sorry I have options for schools. My current friend at UMDNJ along with the DO i shadowed told me so many kids in there class paid the 1000 at nycom and didnt go there, thats excessive and yeah i didnt want to go there anyway.

I didnt say any others were refundable but 1000 is crazy. I withdrew from my interview so i dont throw away my money.

You need to relax, i didnt mean anything by it, but im just stating the obvious about the secondary and deposit OK.

why did you bump up this post after a month anyways? to start trouble? not a thing was mentioned about deposits... frankly i have no reason to care about that right now. im focusing on rocking my interview. and if a grand guarantees my spot in med school, so be it. ive spent enough already, whats another G?
