Montefiore, is right by the 4 train and that train line runs through the east side of Manhattan and also Brooklyn. The train runs express most of the time and it takes about 20-40mins to get to E86st. Also you can take the D or B train but then u have to take a bus or walk but that doesn't take long either. Its possible, u could also try looking into living in Riverdale in the Bronx its a nice area thats secluded from the rest of the Bronx and close to Manhattan and Montefiore.
