SO, I just got an email from NYMC for an interview, and I am super excited!!! But, the only downfall is that its in April, so, I didnt know if there were any of you guys out there who had an earlier interview who were planning on cancelling your interview. I dont know how it would work but obviously I would prefer an earlier date...

I guess on another note, do you guys what the stats are on the number of students that NYMC asks to interview? If so, also what do you think my chances will be if I interview in April. I asked the admissions person if at that time they will only be interviewing for wait list spots and she said no. SO, I am not sure, let me know what you guys think!!

Thanks

Maybe they're just interviewing for post-interview rejection?

Fox did you ever hear back yet?

why would they ever do that?

NYMC doesnt interview just to reject (I know, I work in admissions), and just so everyone knows, we dont interview for waitlist, if you're interviewing there are spots available. The poster above is either joking or bitter I'd assume. Best of luck for your interview.

Call the admissions office! Don't worry about the late date. I have a friend who got in last year and interviewed in July for the August class. I was offered an interview there in March, and I am excited too. (I got the invite at the end of October). So don't worry about it. And good luck to you! 🙂

Sorry but I find it hard to believe someone interviewed in July. I have never heard of a school interviewing past may much less into July. The website also says interviews are October-April. Even if it went over by a month that would be May, I would even give you June but I dont think I can believe July unless there were serious extenuating circumstances....

I was complete on 12/06

Rats, got that one wrong, but accepted in July, still the school does seem to interview late. I got an invite in October for March, so that's quite a gap.

That would be absolutely amazing!! When is your interview scheduled? Thank you so very much!

I know for a FACT that NYMC invites people to fly across the country and interview for a rejection. FACT!

Don't be bitter. Interview = hope. Don't discourage anyone. I know getting an interview doesn't equate to an acceptance, but its an opportunity!

"...interview for a rejection"

I just want everyone to consider what this statement really means.

How much does an interview day actually cost a school anyway?

Do you like work on the admissions board. Are you privy to everything that is going on? Or is this like second hand heard from my mother's cousin kind of information?

Every school reserves the right to reject people post interview. But NYMC does not invite people to an interview, knowing they will reject anyone. What would be the purpose of going through an interview, arranging the time to setup interviews with interviewers and tour guides?

Heh, NYMC still hasn't gotten back to me yet and I interviewed way back at the beginning of November.

Wow...ok..everyone chill out.

I wasn't being bitter, just making a sly remark. I didn't actually interview at NYMC - they offered, but I declined the interview.

I'm sure that if you called admissions and they said that they still had spots open, I really hope that what they said was a sincere and honest answer.

My only worry is that April is pretty late in the season (my opinion only), BUT, if they said that you wouldn't be interviewing for a spot on the waitlist just give it a shot. If you can, try to find an earlier date....
