NYU Dental

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I've never felt unsafe around the area. I haven't seen many other schools, but I think as far as schools in a big city go, NYU is one of the safer ones. I hear Columbia is kind of sketch.

NYU area is very safe. E. 23rd street area, used to be a bit rough in the 70's, now it's solid. Got Murray Hill to the North (a lot of young bankers live there), and Union Square to the South.

Columbia is a slightly more "sketch." It's in Washington Heights/Morningside, but that area is gentrifying rapidly as Columbia is buying up property left and right up there. Just exercise discretion and you'll be fine.

The surroundings of NYU dental school are as safe as it gets in the city.

I visited the school enough times to make a few observations. There are a few shady characters loitering in the area and some other folks like that that were attracted to the cheap dental care. Security/police seemed on point so I wouldnt worry about them. Just avoid prolonged eye contact and looking like an easy target (easier to do if youre a guy) just in case, you never know what can happen in a city of over 8 million.
