Hi this is my first time posting to this board, and let me just say that from what I have seen everyone here seems very helpful and it looks like this board is doing very well.
My question is for people that have had an interview with NYU can you please tell me as much about it as possible. Specifically what types of questions they ask, but also of your overall experience. I really would like to go to NYU Dental, but after reading some of these messages about their retention rate it has made me a little nervous. So please if you have an information you could provide to me that would be great.
thank you
Mike

Well I got to the interview really early, around 7am and security wouldn't let me go upstairs until like 7:30. Well I took the school newspaper, sat down and began reading it when around 7:20 Dr.Hittelman was walking by and asked if I was there for the interview.

He took me upstairs and we talked a little. The day was really cold and I mentioned I like the change from the warm weather every now and then because I like to snowboard ( I really do go like 3 times a year). He then pretty much said that was the stupidist thing he ever heard since I have the opportunity to surf in warm weather.

So I thought, damn i'm already digging my grave..hope he isn't interviewing me. Well at like 7:35 guess who said lets go talk. So he sat down looked at my grades, letters, all that fun stuff in the application and asked the following:

Why dentistry?

Are you aware of the health problems dentistry may cause? (i.e. back problems and stuff...)

Why NYU?

Why didn't you take anatomy? (bec I took physiology)

Our class is big, can you handle that?

Tell me about your dental experience.

tell me about your research.

what do you do in your free time?

We mostly just talked. It was not a one sided interview at all. He was really friendly and we both were kinda sick and shared some cold remedies.

At the end, I looked at my watch and it was 8:30. Yeah I was with him for almost an hour. I talked to others that interviewd that day and they said the interview was like 15 min long. I think there were three people doing one-on-one interviews.

Hope this helps and good luck!!!

Oh yeah they give a super fast response...my letter was sent the next day
