i need help on getting to NYU. im going on a friday morning and have to get there by 8... if i get off amtrak penn station at 7:15 is there time to take a cab???

You would be cutting it really close. If there is a train delay, or difficulty getting a taxi (which is quite possible) or traffic across town (also possible) then you would be late. Isn't there an earlier train?

yes its an earlier train but i dont know if I can wake up at like 330 am and still be awake for the interview🙁

I flew over-night, with almost no sleep, from West coast and had my interview at 4 am PST. The earlier you get there, the faster you will be done :luck:

assuming you DO arrive by 7:15am I think you'll be fine?

use hopstop.com

It says from penn station to nyu dental (345 E 24th street) its about 30 mins (including walking time).

A cab takes ~15 minutes (but more expensive).

I'd take the cab option in case you're not too savvy with directions. (Its really easy to get to nyu dental though from the 1st ave stop though).

Good luck! And find comfort in the fact that I got there early (7:40) and was immediately called to interview (it lasted about an hr for me, less for others). So if you arrive a bit late, your interviewer might not notice. 🙂

i plan to take a cab and i will hope ill be fine...i think at worst ill get there right on the dot 8 o clock.... 8 am is a bit early for new york as if its not a busy city! i wish a lil later.

You should be fine. You can take the subway and still get in time.

My only concern is whether or not you will be able to get a cab right away. Right outside of Penn Station there is a cab stand that has a long line ... which may kill your time... You might be best off walking east (ask someone the directions outside of the station) head over maybe 2 avenues and then catch a quick cab. Just a little trick to save some time and get away from the congestion...
