Hi,

I just got my first interview for dental school at NYU, I'll be heading up there on the 31st. I'm just wondering how it was at the interview, for those of you who already went. Did you have to do an essay at NYU prior to the interview? How did your interview go in general, was it very stressful etc.? This will be my first interview and I don't want to go there unprepared.

Hey Mahalo,

The interview was not stressful at all, at least not for me.
The gentleman that interviewed me was extremely nice and it was very conversational - not stressful. Also, you are given a secondary application to fill out, but it's only to give any updates or changes to your application. You are not asked to write any type of essay so don't worry about that.

Just be yourself. It was my first interview too, and to be honest - I thought it was a great experience. The staff was very friendly and the tour was awesome.

Good luck ~ just be yourself and you will be just fine😉

I heard 2 of my friends say that New York will be freezing, that it'll snow or rain (great 🙄 ). So, when we go to our interview and we have on a ton of winter coats/scarfs/gloves, do we take those off during the interview or keep it on? Which would be appropriate?

I'll be there on the 31st as well!

Congratulations ! I was just wondering when was your AADSAS mailed out and how your stats? And lastly when did you take the DAT?

NYU interview is very laid back, dont worry too much, just make sure you get there early.

Just take what you need to take. Some people left their stuff with the person at the desk - and there is also a closet in the office you could use. One of the girls interviewing with me had her suitcase with her and was able to store it in that closet.

for those of you who got an interview from NYU, would you mind sharing when you received the invite letter & when your application was completed? Thanks!

Application/transcripts/LORs submitted to AADSAS June 1st, took DAT 2nd week of August, received interview invitation August 31. NYU was the fastest school! It's a cool school.

Thanks for the replies guys!

My app was completed in early October, and I look forward to hearing from them soon. NYU is definitely one of my top choices!

Good luck to everyone!

Just got my NYU Interview today by E-Mail!
I am scheduled for November 2nd.
Anyone else going to be there.

For those of you that have booked yours already, where are you staying at? And how did you get to the school?

Still nothing from NYU for me...i'm starting to think that my stats arent good enough even for there...and i thought I could at least make a strong case at NYU...damn...good luck everyone:luck:

Well this changes from interviewer to interviewer. Time also varies ~ some people in my group were out in 10 min. others, like me, took about 25-30 min.
My interview was very conversational and laid back. I was just asked "Tell me about yourself" and random questions here and there about myself. They also had a sheet where they had to fill out feedback to certain questions: what was your hardest class, and things of that nature. Hope this helps.

Don't worry too much. It's not that bad at all.
Best of luck!:luck:

i interviewd on Oct 9th. REALLY laid back, very easy. My whole interview was less than 10 minutes.

overall, nyu was much better than i expected! good luck!~

After hearing much bad things about NYU in this forum, that nice to hear. Except for the tuition, I think NYU is a very good school to go to.
