Hi everyone,

I have an interview coming up at NYU and just wanted to know from those who were interviewed there how it was? Moreso, on what kind of questions they asked you? Also, if anyone has any suggestions or tips on how to best prepare myself for it, your comments are welcome here. Thanks. 🙂

I guess it depends on who you get. The guy that interviewed me spent most of the time telling me why i should choose NYU and answering my questions. It was the most relaxed interview of all. I think the only real interview question i was asked was why dentistry and how many other interviews i had. I bet it depends on the person you get.

Although i have a suspicion they know before you interview if they will accept you or not.

I'd check out the interview feedback section (its under the databases pull down menu at the top of the page). My interview was also very laid back, and I really got the feeling that they were trying to sell me on the school rather than grill me. Good Luck!

Ask questions during the financial aid presentation, it shows them that you are interested.

It depends on who you get as an interviewer. I happened to have had a psychologist as my interviewer and he asked me "why dentistry" followed by the question "how do you REALLY know you want to be a dentist?" haha. Great guy though, but be prepared to back up your answers... twice. The other interviewers I heard were more laid back and more like a conversation. Good luck!

The guy i interviewed with, pretty much glanced at my app.....saw my scores (pretty average) and said i don't see any good reason why we shouldn't let you in, and he literally gave me a 5 out of 5, checked the admit box, and said I will write up something nice.... We talked a little about how i was the first in my family to go to college and seek a professional degree.... and that was about it... needless to say i got admitted, but I chose NOVA instead... go figure

mine was really laid back. We basically had a conversation about my hometown and my experiences with dentistry. Seriously, no hard questions at all. It really seemed like I was just talking to one of my professors. Don't worry you'll do great.

My interviewer grilled me. He kept asking me why NYU and not the other schools in NY. He kept saying negative things about my application to see how I handle pressure. Just be yourself, you'll be fine.
