I am a bit confused by the NYU long island website.
On their homepage they mention 20 post-graduate medical education specialties, I understand this may contain both residencies and fellowships (NYU Long Island School of Medicine | NYU Langone Health).
This page only list 8 residencies (Residencies | NYU Langone Health).
And then "direct link to residency" only contains 4 residencies (How to Apply to the MD Program | NYU Langone Health). And that, "As part of NYU Long Island School of Medicine’s application process, applicants indicate their residency choice on our secondary application." So it sounds like you'd need to know one of these 4 to choose from?
Lastly this years residency match list shows their students going places other than affiliated with NYU (Residency Match Day Results for MD Students | NYU Langone Health).

So could someone explain how this works? Can you choose any of their 20 GME specialties, or are you limited to the 4 "direct link to residency" options or even the 8 residencies they list elsewhere? If you are accepted are you at all bound to these limited options? And do you need to intend to study for one of their programs to apply? Or can you plan to attend the school just for the MD program but apply to match elsewhere?

It doesn't look like you're bound to stay at NYULI since many of their inaugural class matched out and I'm guessing folks can change their mind during med school there and aren't as limited to primary care as it seems. I imagined they started and then changed their minds which is common. I'm at the main Manhattan campus and 3yr students here can change into different residencies pretty easily so long as there is a 3 yr spot available to apply to.
