NYU - no interview??

A lot of us applied to NYU because we thought we could get in easily; and we all need a "definite" appectance..

In the past few months I've been hearing mainly good things about NYU and how they're improving the school... i would really love to be invited to interview so i could see the school and learn more about it .. but it seems that they do not wish to offer me an interview (yet)....

I find this to be quite disheartning.. even though i have 4 interviews at other schools, i don't understand why NYU wouldn't interview me.. Heck, I'm even an Alumnus of the university.

Anyone else out there thought they would have a great shot at NYU and still not hear from them? Perhaps ill hear from them much later in the game?
 
i want to hear something positive from them but haven't heard a word yet.

My app was mailed out Aug 31st and everything was complete by Sept 30th.
 
Nothing yet. I only got 1 interview from UMDNJ on dec 1st so far. Thinking of applying to a few more schools.
 
I'm guessing that if you didn't get any interview from NYU and your credentials are very good, then most likely you might be accepted without interview. This happened to many people last year. Although I don't know if they gave them any notices beforehand.

i was wondering about that..people who get accepted without an interview, do they know anything at all before Dec 1st?

I spoke to one a counselor at NYU. They said if you get denied or accepted w/o interview you won't know anything until after dec 1st. Upon hearing this, i asked, well am i competitive...she said yes. With that, i certainly hope i don't get an interview 😀. If i do, then i don't know what the hold up is...my file has been complete there since mid sept. gl all.
 
will they say how many of such no-interview acceptances they give out? lots of 23-25's seem to have interviews.

She didnt give out that info. I was suprised to see so many people with high stats get interviews as well. I guess we'l have to wait and see.
 
someone with a 4.0/4.0 on predents with mid to low 20s on predents got an interview. this kind of scares me, bc if they are interviewing this guy/gal, i can only imagine who they accept without an interview..
 
i was accepted last year w/out interview with a 3.3 and 22 DAT.
 
Any chance of 3.2 with 21 AA being accepted w/o interview?

you're also from Cornell. Very few people on here went to a top 20 school. Plus, a 3.3 from Cornell's very solid.
 
I went to the interview last week and the interviewer guy got pissed off at me for getting a 19 in one section of the DATs. I think he was trying to tell me I was stupid.
 
i still don't have interview as well from NYU, maybe no news is good news. just have to wait and see i guess.
 
I was wondering who exactly wouldn't be interviewed and accepted this year as well. Based on predents it seems that people who would have gotten accepted w/o an interview last year, didn't this year. I was kinda upset that i got the interview, maybe it has something to do with my crappy school, oh well.

NYU DOES offer interviews.

In fact I got an email this morning stating that NYU is inviting me for an interview.

Subject just said Interview Invitation and it was from the NYU Office of Addmisssion (with Admission spelled wrong....haha I just realized that).
 
Got mine invitation on Monday as well...

Not only did they misspell the subject heading of the email, but there is also a type-o in the email letter.

Anyhow, I am changing my mind and may go to the NYU interview,...despite the expense of flying out to NYC and staying in the common expensive hotel/motel in the city.
 
I got an interview invitation yesterday too....so excited to go to NY..I have heard there is more chance of getting in NYU if you get an interview in NYU. What do you guys think?
 
I'm pretty sure you guys will definitely get an interview. I had an interview with them earlier this month with lower stats than some of you guys so theres definitely hope. I was surprisingly impressed by the school. I had heard so many bad things, but they really addressed the issues.
 
What kind of stuff is on the supplementary thing they give you at the interviews?

😀 It's funny because when I went to my interview there - I mentioned SDN a few times and I got blank stares - like no one knew what I was talking about! haha
 
i scheduled my interview at NYU for Nov 20th. Where did you guys stay and how close/expensive was it?

every suckers at my interviews know about SDN...they know about the rumors and they asked the dean about those rumors they got from SDN.
 
does NYU send out rejections before dec 1st?
 
no..they send them out quite late..~april/may

at my interview at Nova, 4 out of 8 of us were on SDN.
 
again, no love from NYU..
