If you peruse the US News information (and I know you do 😉, you'll notice that most schools interview in the range of 500-1000 applicants. Of that pool, less than 50% are accepted and of that pool, about 50% matriculate. So at BU for example, 945 applicants are interviewed, 367 are accepted, and 155 matriculate. However, NYU's stats are inverted. At NYU (according to US News numbers), 846 applicants are interviewed and 943 are accepted! How can this be? This is the only case I've seen these inverted numbers. It might just be that US News has incorrect information, but I doubt it - they must have legions of intern fact checkers. Here's a link, assuming you can log on:
