NYU Poor Residency Placement

I was very disappointed to see in usnews that NYU's residency placement (percent of students who got into their top3 residencies) was significantly lower than other schools. does anyone know a reason for this?

i think only around 65 percent of nyu students get in one of their top 3 residencies.

NYU's residency placement is outstanding in quality.A look at the matchlist indicates it is topped only by a few very elite institutions.The percentage of students matching into their top 3 choices is a meaningless statistic since it does not indicate the level of competitiveness of the programs applied to.Many schools say their students get 90% placement into their first 3 choices but a look at the matchlist tells you why...they end up being very middle of the road programs.The students at the best schools tend to apply to high level hospitals. http://www.med.nyu.edu/admissions/residency/index.html
