Sorry i don't have any insight on this but just wondering were u accepted after an interview or were u accepted off the waitlist?

As a NY resident, SBU is cheaper from NYU being a SUNY, if price is a major factor. I have also heard their facilities are more up to date from those at NYU. Maybe another thing is to consider commute depending on where you are in NY. Overall from my research, Stony had the better reputation. Good luck in whatever you choose!
