I interviewed in NYU just before Dec. 1 and was put into their waiting list in Jan. Just got an email from them, they are asking if I am still interested in their school. But they just told me they are going to review all the waiting lists now.
Anybody is in the same situation? Does that mean a high chance or they just want to cross out some people from their waiting list? Is that a huge pool?

Isn't Kentucky still cheaper, even out-of-state then NYU?

I would think NYU is one of the easiest schools to get off the waitlist because of it IS the most expensive school in the nation, hands down!

So, yes they must take A LOT OF people off the waitlist especially with the largest class.

If you compared Kentucky and saw even out-of-state that it was much cheaper then I would be going to Lexington this fall.

Also, in your situation, you are an international student from China!
Are you taking out private loans? How are you financing dental school without the federal loans that most people use? Especially with this situaiton I would avoid the costliest school by any means possible.

I am in a grad program PhD with many Chinese students (40% of my class) and they are all very good! There is even one girl who has a dental degree but it is a B.S./M.S. from Peking Health Science Center in medicine.

GOOD LUCK!!!

who was the email sent from? also, did they give you a deadline to respond back to them?

Sorry but that honor goes to USC, not NYU!

You're saying that USC is more expensive than NYU? I thought it was the other way around. Are you going off the numbers they gave you on your interviews..because those would undoubtedly be more accurate.

Yeeup. I compared the packets that both schools gave me and USC comes out on top with it's tuition. The cost of living in NYC is higher but the tuition is only like ~47k (if u want more accurate #s, i can look them up) for NYU. USC however costs ~55-60k for tuition for first three years and is a little less for the 4th year. So in the end, USC's cost comes out higher by a hair.

Well, actually, I won't change my choice, or, have to say, I have no choice. I have already got the I20 from UKY and I do like them much more than NYU. I interviewed both. I almost cancelled UKY interview last dec. However, now I think I made the right decision. 🙂
Just feel some kind of upset because I thought I could use NYU as the backup as other people stated here and it turned out to be the waiting list. 🙁
Actually it totally destroyed my life...
But, It is hard to say NYU is more expensive than UKY in my case, because NYU tuition is just 44k and UKY is 50k for me. Living expenses in NYU for me should be cheaper because I can live with my friends..close like my family. They may even not charge me for rent....Of course later I will pay them back in some ways and living in NYC is better for a Chinese compared to Lexington. I don't think I can get GC and half the tuition in the next 4 years.... the interest of my loan is floating and around 9% now.....68k a year for 4 years...It is a big burden. And, there is only one agent provides loan to international students without asking for a co-signer. I got that agent from NYU interview and their website....They must deal a lot with similar cases of mine...which I really appreciate them. While UKY finacial officer knows nothing on this...and he kept warning me what if I could not get my loan the second year....blah, blah.... instead of finding a way to help me. Somebody mentioned it too in their interview feedback here..
Anyway, now I am just waiting to move to Lexington from NY this summer.
By the way, the loan agent is accessgroup. They only require 4 accounts and one of them keeps active for 3 years.

hey all

i just registered yesterday, and this website has been a lot of help... well, it's full of, i guess, half truths. haha. i actually received the same exact email last week about emailing nyu back about my interest in attending nyu in the fall, if accepted off the wait list.

i am planning on applying for a master's program though, for a backup if nyu doesn't work out.

does anyone know about the percentages or possibilities of getting accepted from the wait list?

thanks.

yeah...I don't understand why they have a waitlist when there's spots open, i think...this friday may be the last interview group though, so hopefully after this friday, they'll move onto the waitlist-it's so strange too, I thought I did well in the interview-thought that's just me, there's still people getting in so I"m sure you'll do fine 🙂
