Has anyone been taken off the waitlist at NYU? If so, at what point did you interview, receive your waitlist standing, and then get taken off? Just to get a clue on the time frame. I've read a few of the previous threads regarding this subject, however, most are quite old. Any insight on the waitlist process (average # of candidates, whether there is a ranking system, etc.) would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Hey guys.....it seemed that NYU had me on their list of incoming freshmen, but I dont know why. Back in December, when I was accepted, I sent them a bogus cheque, cause I knew I was going to be accepted to Temple days after, but I sent it just to be sure, but for some reason, they said that they received my first deposit (which is impossible, cause the cheque had no funds) and that I missed their second deposit......Looks like NYU needs to work on their organization.....perhaps some of you NYUers can write bogus cheques to cover your tuition......hey, u never know....might work!!!!!anyways, Ive informed Amy Knowles that I will not be attending NYU in August, which means someone on the waitlist is gonna be happy in the next couple of days! 👍

Won't that bogus check affect your credit rating once it is cashed?

Dr.BadVibes, I don't think what you did was ethical. A lot of people are waiting to get accepted and you should have notified the school instead of sending that check. But, I guess, everyone's mentality is different.

DDS2BE:

Do you know of the # of applicants on the NYU Waitlist? What is the process? Do they rank applicants or does the adm. com. review the waitlisters credentials as spots open up? Any insight is appreciated. Thanks.

I know that being on the waitlist leaves you midair...I'm on NYU's waitlist so I feel your pain of uncertainty. I spoke to Amy Knowles and she said that they are not able to say how many ppl are on the waitlist or to inform you of your number on the waitlist. She said to move up on the waitlist one needs to be "proactive," whatever that means. Also you can be on the waitlist all the way up until third week of August, before the school starts. 😳

Last summer waitlist movement was almost none...hence why my class overfilled. They expected a larger melt of students in the summer, but it didn't happen. But every year is different. Good luck to all!

Oh yeah, you need good numbers to come off the waitlist

Hey dudelove.....actually I just wrote a cheque from a bank account that had no funds in it....I was charged $20 for it, but I saved $500 by not paying NYU my tuition deposit.....

Well, thanks for judging my ethics.......but I dont think what I did was unethical....I got accepted back in December when many seats were open, but I knew that there was a good chance that I was gonna get accepted by Temple a few days later and Temple was my #1 choice....so I didnt want to waste $500 just for a couple of days....and plus, I didnt know that they thought the cheque was cashed and that I was on NYU's class list this whole time.......so you can call me unethical, but I just think it was a case of trying to not waste money......sorry if I offended you *******.

Dr. BadVibes,

I truly believe that you know what you did was ultimately wrong, even though it worked in your favor.

It wasnt wrong at all......back in December, every seat was open so I wasnt stealing a seat from anyone.....its not my fault that they kept me on their list for the incoming class.....

What Dr. BV did wasnt unethical, it was SMART. What sane person would waste $500 for 2 days??? He ultimately didnt take away a seat from anyone, he just made them wait a little longer. And since NYU is the last school on many students list, I doubt that DBV forced a student to go somewhere else instead of "their 1st choice" NYU by holding on to the seat.

Cheers Bickle....and with that $500 I saved I went on a major shopping spree!!

Nikon Coolpix 4300 4MP Digital Camera: $180
Dell DJ 15GB mp3 player: $170
Sandisk 512 MB CF card and Digital Photo Viewer: $58
Clothes: $80
Sneaking around my NYU deposit: Priceless

Ok OK....the Mastercard jokes are completely played out, but it looks like my unethical practices have landed me some sweet stuff......Thanks NYU 😀

If I'm not mistaken, thats bank fraud, punishable by prison time. If I were everyone, I would leave this alone, a get back to the real purpose of this thread (NYU waitlist).

when was bouncing cheques constituted as bank fraud?

I believing knowing first hand that the check was going to bounce is bank fraud. And you still sent a bogus check. To fact that you boasted on this website that the check was going to bounce so, that you could save yourself some greenbacks is even more incrimating evidence. Do your self a favor and stop boasting about bank fraud.

Well if you are right, then yes.....Im guilty as charged 😀

Anyways, my intentions were not to "boast", but when people were making clumsy accusations like Im unethical without realizing what they were saying, I thought the only "ethical" and "mature" thing to do was to boast

And by the way.....I never knew that I was holding a seat this whole time....my initial thoughts were that if I sent a bounced cheque, then they would not hold a seat for me......pretty solid assumption....wouldnt you say so?

You admitted you were guilty, thats the first step in breaking the vicous cycle of Fraudlant banking. Just kidding, Again congrats on your acceptance to philly, great school, wish I had applied there too. Maybe you should change your name to HOTCHECKS or CHECKBOUNCER .
