people keep talking about cumulative notes from other students at NYU? What are those where do you get them? Is anyone selling/giving them away?

just ask, everyone has them.

Your peer mentor will (or should) give them to you.

I think it's a block system. Can someone explain how the block system there works?

The material is more comprehensive but everything must be cumulative somehow because new information builds upon previous material.

At my interview there, they were explaining the exams for the first year science courses.

Basically, you only have quizes during the semester. At the end of the semester you get 1 week off to study, then one big exam covering all the science courses that lasts 6 hours.

Supposedly it mimicks the boards. I am pretty sure you have normal exams throughout the semester for the dental courses though.

All of the students that I talked to about it said they preferred it that way, and the admissions director said that they have been getting the highest grades with this setup.

It sounds good I guess (if its working) but idk if I like the idea of 1 six hour exam deciding my fate...primarily because the first semester in an advanced program and I would not know if my new study habits are working until it is too late.

Makes the DAT look like a walk in the park..

That's not quite right... it's true that you have quizzes weekly and the final is 6 hours (two 3-hour sittings with an hour for lunch in the middle) covering all of the science subjects from the semester. However, there are also midterms during the semester. These midterms are also combined, so they will cover multiple science subjects. The dental courses are not combined into that system so you'll have traditional exams for those.

ugh. just the thought of it gives me anxiety and almost makes me not want to go there.

You'll get through it... [most] everyone else did...

It's professional school. Were you expecting a walk in the park?
