Ok, I had a few questions about NYUCD dress code...

At what point do you wear scrubs? are there specific ones/colors I need to buy?

What do people typically wear 1st year? Are there different attires expected for labs vs. lecture?

When do you wear the lab coat? just in lab? or just in clinic? I feel like everyone had one on....but I'm guessing you wouldn't wear it to lecture. Do people wear scrubs to lecture?

Even if there is no dress code, is there a typical attire people wear? I went to a state school for undergrad where everyone dressed very casually (PJs and hoodies were common place) and a few of my friends went to private city schools and people dressed very professional/dressy... a hoodie would make you stand out... in a bad way.

Why don't you just wait until the first day of school and they'll tell you everything you'll need to know? Don't worry about the nitty gritty and go celebrate your acceptance (and last bit of time off for the next four years).

and not be prepared for the year until 1st day?

Personally, I like shopping (but don't plan on doing too much in dental school) so if I'm out shopping and I see a great deal on something I'd like to know if its something I can wear to school.

I don't think I'd like to find out that I need to have business casual clothes and have none... and need to go out quickly and buy them asap (when I should be doing other things to prepare).

I'm sorry but I don't really think asking is a big deal.

I never said asking is a big deal, I just see a lot of new students worrying about such minor things when they should be relishing in their achievements a little more. I never really had to shop for clothes since I had a small business casual wardrobe already. NY is pretty pricey when it comes to shopping so you're right it's probably a good idea to buy most things at home. I found a link for ya as far as dress code is concerned.

Anytime you want. You are not required to wear them first year. I think you do for second, scrubs or professional attire. I think, this is definitely the case for 3rd and 4th years though.

wear whatever you want. In lab, you wear a white coat the whole time. no open toed shoes or shorts.

only in lab. we spend a lot of time in lab....like i answered in question 1. you can wear whatever you want 1st year. two people stood out for wearing scrubs the first day of school and they wear them everyday since..... In clinic, must be scrubs or professional attire.

No dress code, wear whatever you want until clinic for sure. I am not 100% on 2nd year, though i suspect its like 1st year.
