  1. Pre-Optometry
Hi everyone,

So I'm currently looking into applying to several optometry schools this summer (for admission to the class of fall 2012). I haven't taken the OAT yet, but I'm planning on doing so hopefully mid to end of July-ish. I'm kind of in a dillemma though. Knowing that the application on OptomCas opens up on July 1st this year, would it be better to send in my application first before I take the OAT or wait until I take it and send in my application in August?

I know applying earlier is better but would the lack of OAT scores look bad?

I have exact same questions, any help will be appreciated =)

Not at all!

From my understanding, you're encouraged to submit your application as early as possible ( ~July 15th) even if you have not done your OAT and they will still consider it. As long as you've selected what schools to have your OAT score released to, they will receive them when you do write it. If you check out the school admission requirement websites most of them explicitly say this and have deadlines (February 1st/March 1st) by when they must receive it, giving you plenty of time.

I am curious, does the application have an option to fill it out as you go from day to day and update fields as well as the option to save and then go back to edit, or is it a one time submission?

From what I remember (which was really long time ago actually...), you can save and go back to edit (since it took me like a week before I finally submitted).

I took about 2 months to finally submit my application from the day that I started working on it.

For all your application concerns use the search tool. I guarantee almost any question you have has been answered there.
