Hello guys!!!!

oh my goodness i am so excited that this is finally over. i have spend one whole month like, living in the library. (ew!)
but now it was all worth it, and i am really happy with my scores!! 🙂

QR:380
RC: 300 (i suck at this...)
Bio: 380
GC: 380
OC:370
Phy: 370
TS: 380
AA: 360

for those of you still studying out there, BE STRONG!!!! STUDY HARD! it will totally pay off. seriously. i took my ochem and chem wayyyy long ago, still have one quarter of physics to take, and last time i took bio was AP bio in HS... ! but this is totally do-able!
i took the kaplan course, it was kida helpful as in ...motivating, but most of the stuff you need to learn yourself from the big fat book + skinny inclass book. online practice tests are good. do them!
i would TOTALLY RECOMMEND the DESTROYER! (Dr.Romano and Nancy are both so nice! they called me in person because they sent me the wrong book (DAT) book at first, but they fix the mistake immediately, like, the next day!)
Destroyer= Best Book Ever...for the OATs. it is slightly harder than the real questions, but it prepares you really well. extremely detailed solutions, gives you background of most of the stuff you need to know!

As for the test itself, Physics is not as hard as my study materials. Bio is a lot harder than kaplan, (way detailed!) ochem and gchem are about the same level i would say. Kaplan practice test scores may scare you, but dont worry, mine bumped up 30 points on the real test! 🙂
I made my appointment at 12pm...which is my optimal functioning time, the 1st time i set up my appointment, the lady gave me 9am, i didnt know i could pick my time so i took it. later my friend told me that we could request later appointment times, so i called and spend 10 bucks to change it. it was worth every penny i say! but if morning is your thing, then go for it 🙂

Oh i really want to go to either berkeley or suny! 🙂 but i am still pondering if i want to apply for 08 or take a year off then do 09. recommendations?:luck:

Congrats! Those are excellent scores! All that hard studying paid off, eh? Take a year off! Pfft! Why would you want to do that? 😉 If it were me, I would just want to start so I could graduate a year earlier and just get it done. That way you won't lose your swing of being in school. But, that's just me. Have you started applying at all yet?

Wow, fantastic scores!

You earned every point on that exam. Good job!

haha, Thanks guys!! 😀 you guys are super supportive!
it makes me feel so much better both when im studying and when im done. yay for sdn forum and awesome people like you !!! 🙂

anyway, i want to take a year off because i think it would be a good break.
we have already gone to school for 15 years straight, wouldn't it be nice to have a break in between and do something you like when your still young? haha (not saying after graduating opto school you wont be young...😛)
i have never really worked before, so i thought it would be nice to work in a opto office or even other fun little jobs just because we would never be able to do that after we graduate optometry school!(or we wouldnt want to. since...we will be optometrists! yaaay) and traveling would be fabulous too!

i have not started any applications what-so-ever since it wasn't part of my plan to. i got one really good rec letter already, but i was planning to get the other two slowly next year. if i want to rush it, i am afraid it wont be as good. plus i have not even started on my personal statement!!! wouldn't it be too late to cram all those in now?
i am kind of reconsidering my options though... so yea...must decide! is it too late?? is it worth it??

hahaha are you kidding me?
that was one of the best things EVER!
i listened to it like twice a day to calm myself down and stay happy.
thanks so much richard. 😀

CONGRATS CHERRY!!

Looks like the hard work really paid off! I did well on mine, not as well as you did, but I am quite satisfied with my score also.

Vibes! thank you!! BIG CONGRATS TO YOU TOO!!!!! im proud of us that we are finally done 🙂 where do you want to go? are you planning to take a year off first or go straight for school??

Mr Bobblehead,( hahah cute sn!) i took the kaplan course during the beginning of this summer. it was alright,i attempted to kept on schedule..(but its hard, they go so fast!) but also played a lot...since it was the beginning of the summer. when i was done with my course, i scheduled a test date, and then finally comes motivation...lol. so i spend one month studying daily around 7-8 hours? went through around 1 subject each week. Did lots of practice tests, took about one or two test per week. the more practice you get, the better off you will be. The last week i just did lots and lots of reviews. redo old problems that i got wrong on my practice tests and lots of destroyer problems. hope that helps. Good Luck!!!

I'm hoping to go right into school after I graduate this year. I really want to go to ICO.

I'm proud of us also 😀...it's such a relief to finally get it over with. Now those negative thoughts of "what-ifs" won't plague me at night 😴

So you decided upon taking a year off? What schools are you interested in?

ooooo ico is good! i am going to apply there too.
well, i have been talking intensely with a lotta people about whether i should just give it a try and apply... i decided that im just going to do it! so yay!!!!! haha.

i really want to go to berkeley or suny! but ico and neco also sound really good. i am probably only going to apply to those four schools... are you all done with your applications, personal statement, recs, and such??? i have not started on anything yet! and i am afraid that it would be bad (being so late!)...since lots of school are doing rolling admissions.

i've gotten most of my apps done already. congrats on your decision. i think you still have a good chance on applying. it's still early, go for it! good luck with the process!
