FIRST. Breathe- I had a really hard time doing that.
I drew a blank after the test so I do not have many details to share.
BIO
I read that someone got a question in the Bio section about hormones and what happens to a females hormones when she stops taking the pill and sure enough I got it. I got one question on fertilization, and I believe it had to do with sea urchins some questions were on organelles- cant really remember specifics. It was so vague that all in all, you have to know a little bit about everything.
GCHEM/ O-CHEM
I cannot recall ANYTHING. There was a few hybridization, 1 electron configuration- for ochem know reactions. The faster you can recognize them, the more time you have for yourself to review
READING COMP
SO HARD because I felt the passages were rigorous. The wording of the questions also came as a shock to me because my practice questions were not worded this way. Many of my questions were stated like this:
statement A
statement B
Answers
a) statement a is correct, B is false
b) statement b is correct, a is false
c/d) both false, both correct.
I got held up on the first passage, cutting my time for the last two- when I PROMISED myself I would not get stuck on any questions. A pop up appeared, warning me I had 15 minutes left and 5 minutes left. Instead of going to the last question and reviewing what I had left unanswered at 5 minutes I waited till about 2 minutes, not leaving me enough time to click through all the unanswered or marked questions. PACE YOURSELF WISELY.
PHYSICS
Being my worst subject, I felt most relaxed during this section because I already knew it wasnt my strength so I did not stress about it, (because, if I did poorly, I wouldnt have been as upset as the other sections). I wrote down the equations at break (which totally helped because I did it while I was relaxed and not rushed). I had about 2 kinematics question, a few conversions. A torque question. No series or capacitors (that I remember).
QR
TRIG FUNCTIONS! Solving for X, probability, simple interest. Nothing came as a surprise here. If you do not know the answer to the question, MOVE ON! My calculator did not lag, which was nice, but I forgot I even had it until half way through the questions. but once again, getting hung up on a question killed my time, so I did not have a chance to go back and review like I wanted to...
Overall
I think anxiety got the best of me, I was so nervous I could not even think straight. I used Crack the OAT and the Kaplan course materials (book/flashcards) but I didnt not take the Kaplan course. I think crack the oat was a great study tool (bunch of sample tests), and I liked the fact that I already knew how the test was formatted. I used the physics destroyer- which I did not get until 2 weeks before the exam--- I liked it but I did not get to study it as much as I intended to.
The key is to breathe!
hope this helps!
