I have been doing practice questions with OAT Achiever and OAT destroyer.

OAT achiever will have general chem questions which have the equations as the answers for some questions

OAT Destroyer has a lot of questions with the final answer and you have to do a loot more calculations and estimating.

For those of you who took the OAT were there any questions with calculations, for ex 2(3)/5(.10) listed out or mostly final answers?

TIA. Also just to make sure, there is no strikethrough option like there is on the Achiever correct? When doing practice tests on OAT Achiever I am able to strike through incorrect options

On my OAT exam, there was no strike through feature. There were chem questions with calculations written out in the answer choice... at times I didn't even look at the answer choice and tried to solve for the final answer but then noticed it was all nicely written out in the actual multiple choices! Also, the OAT destroyer q's were VERY similar to the actual exam. I had OAT Achiever too but didn't really like it.

Thank you! that helps

Did anyone use the calculator at all through the sections?

I am going through physics problems with destroyer and they use 9.8 for g constant. I'm usually used to using 10 but then the answers don't match up. Also finding square root of a decimal to get Vf takes too long. How did you manage the physics calculations?I'm guessing I should work on estimating?

Now the physics destroyer wasn't as helpful as the big destroyer book, but it was still worth to go over. The actual questions on the OAT were more conceptual, I barely had to do any calculations. If there were any calculations during the section it was super easy math.

Thanks so much!! that was super helpful. my test is a week away and I'm freaking out!! one last question, do you have any quick tips for the bio section?

I am mainly focusing on conceptual stuff and memorizing key info. for example, mRNA vs. DNA code, hormones and where theyre released from, classes, etc there is a loot. but mainly im going over the repetitive concepts I am seeing on destroyer, achiever, kaplan and opted!!

If I may ask, what sources did you use to study for biology? If you did all the bio destroyer questions then thats awesome. I only had time to do the first 100 questions. I did read AP cliff notes which helped me get the general gist down. I would focus on hormones like you said and then know the parts of a plant, plant reproduction ( sporophyte vs gametophyte generations etc..), human reproduction and all the body systems ( this is where Cliff's came into play they have a great chapter on just that), know the Hardy Weinberg principal ( and how to solve if given a problem, don't worry its simple math), meiosis and mitosis, DNA mutations, luckily I did not have any questions on my exam on cladistics or classes because I barely studied that topic at all( I got lucky). But again, just because my exam did not include that topic doesn't mean yours won't. I did use the taxonomy cheat sheet from DAT bootcamp, here is the website:
http://datbootcamp.com/feralis-biology-notes/ ( let me know if you were able to open the link)...

The biology section is super random. It's just not possible to study EVERYTHING in biology because its so vast. The chemistries and physics section one can actually finish and master the material. On my exam the bio questions were fair but then there were some that were just like WTF. No amount of studying could have gotten me to those answers. I got a 350 on the bio section though so I was happy.

So to recap ( sorry for long message)... I would focus on the major topics I listed above and then do some practice exams.I followed the OAT topic guidelines for biology also. Let me know if you need that link as well.

The OAT seems now as something really scary ( I was so nervous) but then after taking the exam I can truly tell you it's MUCH easier than any practice exam you will take. I was scoring below 300 on my practice exams but then on the actual oat I scored a 350 in the sciences.

I went over Kaplan's Bio section and listened to Chad's videos, but i found listening to videos didn't help me to retain as much information as taking notes out of the big Kaplan book. Even still, I always feel like I hardly know anything when doing the Bio section. I am hoping to dear god there will be few or no questions on cladistics since I am god awful at it.

I will definitely go over the OAT guidelines for bio that should be super helpful. (I know, duh, right?)

Thanks so much I don't know how to thank you enough thank you thank you! I am super nervous since I am scoring below 300 on Achiever tests for most subjects. Then I come here and read Achiever/Destroyer is much harder, so I feel relieved. But then I take another practice test and freak out!! At the same time I don't want to trick myself into thinking it's too easy so I don't study hard enough and give it my all.

Look at the achiever bio questions as a learning process. That's how I though of it. Go over the questions you got wrong and in itself you are studying biology. And yes, don't think the exam is easy because I can totally see how that mindset can trick someone up. I always viewed it as a challenge and had moments of freaking out too! I remember on test day I was SUPER nervous to the point I thought I was going to do mediocre . But then they make you watch a 15 min tutorial which I used to calm myself down ( I highly recommend you take that 15 min to either relax or read what the prompt has to say but I'm sure you know how to use their online software after taking online practice exams ).

Also, I didn't use Chad's bio videos but the Bozeman science I watched every time I would finish a chapter of Cliff's. I found that his animations ( which Chad I don't think has on his bio videos) helped reinforce what I was reading.

Good luck!
