I know my scores for RC are horrible. I plan on applying to UHCO and SCCO this Fall. I will speak to a UHCO advisor thursday, however can you guys tell me your opinions on my scores and what my chances are at getting accepted.

I have been working as an Optician for over a year and I have volunteered at a hospital.

I am attending Univeristy of Houston currently and my major is Biology. My GPA is a 3.36. I also attended a CC for 2 years and my GPA was 3.58 there.

Thanks in advance

I would say that you have a decent chance at getting into both schools. I would recommend applying to some more unless you are set on going to only one of those two schools. I'm not sure how you coming from a CC affects your chances. You may want to talk to the schools and see if your low RC is going to a problem. They may advise you to retake the test.

What problems did you have with the RC? Did you read the passage first or did you just look for the answers without reading the passage? Were the passage difficult to comprehend? Were the questions more direct recall of facts or more general? I take my test in two days and any advice would be really helpful!

Thanks dukeopt. I actually read the passages before looking at the questions. I honestly did not think the questions were direct. To me, many of the questions required an analysis of the passage. I found myself running out of time in the end and I still had quite a few of questions to answer. I studied from a Kaplan review book and I did well in the RC. Even though my advice may not appear good enough for RC I would suggest just reading the passage quickly to get the general idea of the passage and where the main concepts are located then look at the questions. Time was only a factor for that subject for me.

Also, I thought the Opted Practice Test was much easier than the real version. Anyways good luck and I hope that helped.

scco will not grant you an interview with a 260 in anything, even with a 4.0. im not so sure about UHCO. but since you're already at UH i'd go to UHCO. GL
