Hi,

I just wrote my oat today and I'm not too happy with my scores. I got a 330 TS and 320 AA (QR: 310, RC: 310, Bio: 320, GC: 350, OC: 350, Phys: 300). I have a 3.63 gpa currently but I still have one more year to improve my gpa. I am not sure if I should write my oat again next summer since I am afraid it will be lower than this score or if I get a score under 300 (since physics was border 300) and they only look at your most recent score or do they look at your highest score? Also, I live in Canada and I want to go to waterloo since it's cheaper but I don't know with this score if I can get in? Do you think I have a chance in getting into the us schools (ico, midwestern illinois, boston, mco are some of the schools I am interested in) with this current score and my gpa which I can increase?

Hi! Im a UAlberta student and I wrote my OAT on August 31st! Your GPA sounds spectacular! I think you have a really good chance of getting into Waterloo with that, but your OAT score might bring your chances down a bit. Remember that the OAT isn't the only thing that the admissions committee looks at. Also, I think that the last day to write the OAT to be considered an applicant for the 2018 admissions year was August 31st, so if you wrote it after that, you have an extra year to write the OAT if you really want a solid application. But in terms of the American schools, theres PDFs that are released every year for American optometry school admissions stats, how many foreign country students, how many domestic, the average GPA of students that got in, the average OAT score etc. You may want to check those out. But looking at those stats, it looks like your chances of getting into an American school are really high! Well done on everything again by the way-- going through such a rigorous process like any of the standardized tests is a mission!
