So I took the OAT last week and didn't do so well on it, I was wondering if anyone has some honest advice on how I should prepare for this the second time around? The biology section really threw me off on the actual OAT, I studied with the barron's AP bio book and it was nothing like the bio on the OAT. Idk how to explain it, I suppose the actual OAT bio was more conceptual and related to real life situations. For gen chem and ochem I used chads videos and made flashcards, physics as well. QR I didn't really like chad's for that so I just used crack the OAT (had tests for the NS section as well). What is a better study method to prepare for the OAT? I know everyone studies differently and what not, but I was hoping someone could give me some good advice and good resources/study tips because I do not want to waste any time/money on things that are useless. Thanks for reading and for any advice given!

Also, QR and physics are probably the most difficult sections for me to find legit material to use..anyone have any resources that prep you well for these sections on the OAT?

I am taking the OAT next week so I would have better advice afterwards, but from my friends who have taken it or the DAT (similar, minus physics section) I have been advised to use Chad's Videos and OAT Destroyer. I took the Kaplan OAT prep course and thought it was helpful (had 2 really good instructors) but personally did not like the reviews and explanations in the "big" Kaplan book. I preferred looking over my old class notes and textbooks, as well as Khan Academy and Freelance Teacher videos. I know that sounds time-consuming but I found those materials more comprehensive than the Kaplan book.
For physics, my Kaplan instructor said to mainly focus on kinematics (the big 5 equations), rotational kinematics, momentum, springs, power, work, density/pressure/volume, optics (lensmakers equation).. He said there is definitely electromagnism (forces, capacitors, electric fields, etc) but minimal.
I've been using some Princeton SAT Math books for extra help on QR.

Will update after I take the exam, good luck!

Yes please let me know how your experience is, I'd appreciate it very much! I haven't used the OAT destroyer, apparently its overkill, but I have used kaplan and did not find the classroom portion useful. I suppose some of the material was useful, but I'd much rather learn from chad/other text. So what exactly was your strategy you used to study for the OAT? Physics on the OAT for me was very conceptual, I was so surprised because I was sitting here trying to memorize every equation when on the actual exam, most questions were conceptual, but there were still a few problems you had to work out.

Thanks for your advice! Best of luck on the OAT, let me know how it goes!

I reviewed my notes and textbooks from undergrad (bio, gen chem, ochem), and used Princeton AP Physics and SAT Math for physics and QR because my physics notes were a mess and I personally hated the textbook we were assigned for my physics classes :blackeye: For Ochem I recommend David Klein's Organic Chemistry as a Second Language.
I PMed you with a little more detail and will follow up after I take the test. Thanks and good luck to you as well!
