Hi there,
I am looking through the forum - and here are the concerns I am seeing:

General summary of comments:

KAPLAN - overall good, questions too difficult, not like the real OAT, physics section is the worst, not similar to OAT at all

OAT DESTROYER - many of the seasoned members say it's not necessary to do well on the OAT, to study the textbooks and notes

KAPLAN COURSES - many students here are selling them, but others who did not take the course and don't have the material, flashcards, etc, have done fine

I am just confused, I do not know where to start. Of coarse it is different for everyone, I understand. But what is best recommended then for the physics section of the OAT?

My main question is:

Which OAT practice material are the BEST in showing similar problems as in the real OAT?

Please give me your feedback.

Thanks
Tam

I can tell you from experience that OAT Achiever is still the best, especially the physics section. The questions are more difficult than those on the OAT, but they typically cover all topics that you'll need to know on the big day. Plus, it's the only CBT out there that gives you detailed explanations. There's even a short DEMO that you can download to try:

OAT Achiever is excellent - it gives you a real test experience with the timer counting down - but it's so much harder than any other practice tests! To compare OAT Achiever to opted sample test it's like comparing Harvard and high school. Even when you know the solution, there is no time to go through all the steps and calculate it . For example, I took second practice test today, and here is one of the Physics question that took me over 2 minutes to calculate:

Two parallel metal plates, measuring 3.00 cm x 4.00 cm each, are 6.00 mm separated apart by air to form a capacitor. If a potential of 10.0 V is applied across the plates, how much charge will be on the capacitor? [Assume permittivity of free space, εo = 8.85 x 10-12 C2/(Nm2)]

I knew the formulas q = cv and c = (e A)/d, but with all the cm and mm (don't miss that!) to m converstion and 5 different numbers to shuffle, it was taking too much time! And most of them are like that! So, I figured, if I score 320 on OAT Achiever Physics, I should be able to get 340 or above on the real test. ( I scored 370 on QR, which for this practice test, is shocking).
And the practice question below was like "Are you kidding me?!" Do we really need to know open pipe/closed pipe resonance formula?

An open vertical tube had been filled with water with a tuning fork vibrating over its mouth. Two sets of resonance were heard when the water level respectively dropped 17.0 cm and 50.0 cm from the brim. What could have been the frequency of the tuning fork? (Assume speed of sound in the air, v = 330 m/s)
