Did you guys watch Obama's speech?

I find it unfortunate that he says that ALL doctors, nurses, and healthcare professionals are on board with his plan.

ALL doctors? I mean just from this forum alone, I can say that is NOT the case. It's almost as if he's falsely advertising his plan to the masses.

I just went to the whitehouse.gov site and sent a message stating that, as a doctor, I don't support his plan. As soon as I turned the TV on, he said that tests are repeated unnecessarily at institutions because the results aren't shared between institutions. That riled me. I've spent so much time requesting information from OSH's, and, in my experience, patients are always willing to sign the form to release their info for healthcare reasons.

This is the BIGGEST LIE ever. I totally agree with you Ashers. I was floored. I couldnt believe that he said people dont share test results or "tests". What world is he talking about?

When we preop patients we EASILY have access to patients labs, echo results, EKG, CXR, ANYTHING practically. when you work in the Pain clinic and you need MRI reports or images, it's either easily accesible via a CD or a paper copy is given to the patient.

That speech was ridiculous because he is very charismatic, but straight up LIED.

Thanks for bringing what he was saying to my attention. I was totally pre-call vegging. As soon as he's on TV, I change the channel because I can't stand to listen to him and his rhetoric. He is very charismatic, and I feel many people are fooled by that.

The poles are showing that Obama's approval rating is dropping fast. Hopeful that will mean he will have a tough time ramming through his radical agenda. The more we can delay that vote on health care the better that chance the public will learn what is in the bill and oppose it. We need the blue dogs democrats to join the republicans to oppose the bill.

Mobama is a fraud. Very arrogant - did you see his face when he was asked to give DETAILS regarding his plan?
He lost his coolness...He doesn't have any idea what he's talking about.
ENT surgeons are feeling great about his remarks - I bet.
And the discussion about the black guy who was arrested?
WTF cares? This is prime time subject???

👎

Obama is a *****. He seems to have lost his swagger with words that got him elected. I guess his speech preps are on vacation this month? He is losing steam with the Democratic party and with this country. Oh well, I didn't vote for this failure. I told my friends on 11/04/2008 that when he fails I am just going to sit back and laugh in the ignorant and incompetent faces of those who fell for this Stalin-esque tyrant when he fails.

VIVA LA DOCTORS!!!

Maobama keeps saying that he will "root out" waste and "inefficiencies" to pay for his plan. Why not eliminate waste first, show us the savings and then we'll talk about other reforms. Of course he knows the government will just waste more and have more inefficiencies.

yeah but we still repeat those tests a lot. It's not the biggest cost by any stretch, but it's still wasteful. Where I did residency we repeated stuff routinely. When you have an integrated system, like the VA, you can look directly at the tests result. There's no reason to repeat it...and they don't as much. \

I haven't quite had that experience. I have had many, many times when the fragmentation of healthcare information has proved exceedingly frustrating. We get patients referred from all over the place and while sometimes all the information is at hand, there are many times when it is not (and is impossible to get). I have proceeded forth with countless numbers of cases just based on what the patient is telling me (which is usually unreliable) rather than having actual access to test results themselves.

His comment about ENTs doing T&As instead of diagnosing allergies just for money should create a huge crapstorm. But that's the future under his plan: diagnosing conditions as something else to avoid paying for treatment. Shouldn't surprise anyone.

Here's the quote:

Just shows what little he knows about how physicians make decisions.

I wish there was someone that would talk about what Lawyers (ie 90% or so of people in washington) would do.

That is a funny thing for him to say...I have had several ENT surgeons tell me that they do not make any money from T&A's!

I'm currently on an ENT rotation with some fellow residents who worship Obama. I wonder what they'll think about him when they find out he thinks they are greedy surgeons.

Exactly. Since when is that a presidential issue? We don't need comments like that from our commander in chief. Lead our country, don't micromanage local police departments.

And thank goodness Harry Reid announced that the Senate won't vote until after the recess. It seems as though that can only be a good thing. Also puts egg on Obama's face since his "deadlines" are proving more and more meaningless.

One word : RACIST!👎

We need to get the Republicans to put together a slightly better ticket for 2012. Remember they almost beat Maobama with a septuagenarian and a hockey mom. It will be a landslide if they can put together a decent ticket.

Maobama will have to start campaigning for 2012 in 2011. So if we can keep him from destroying the country in the next 30 months, we'll more than likely be rid of him.

Here is a link to the AAO-HNS's response to Obama's slander.

He's an idiot for several reasons. First, the number of tonsillectomies performed in this country has declined every year for at least the last 50 years. Second, the reason tonsillectomies have declined is because of evidence based medicine and clear guidelines and indications for tonsillectomy as it is one of the most well studied operations ever. Third, nobody makes money doing tonsillectomies.

For him to declare that a "fee schedule" drives our decision on how best to treat our patients is an insult to all physicians. It is quite clear now to all that Obama does not think highly of physicians and couldn't give a damn about destroying the profession and healthcare along with it.

Almost beat him? He was 100 electoral votes shy, with a spread of 7 points in the popular vote. The election was over before most people on the east coast went to bed.

Septuagenarian or not, he's one of the most popular senators of the last decade. His campaign fell off the tracks shortly after he chose that sorry excuse for a running mate.

That "sorry excuse" might not know how to answer the tricky questions on the national TV, but she sure can run a state and it is not bankrupt under her term.... what a "bright" Harvard educated guy with a PhD in blah-blah-blah technique is planning to do the whole country is not even a sorry excuse - it's a spell for this country...

Well, the good news is that we all know now that this crap bill won't be advanced this summer.

She can run that state so well she quit.

And the reason they aren't bankrupt is because they take money from the oil companies hand over foot. In fact, they take so much money, they give thousands to each citizen every year.

Please, tell me you will support her when she runs for pres. It may be sooner than you think, what with the upcoming impeachment of our foreign-born president. 🙄

She was running the state before and is quitting not because the state is in trouble.
No need to make excuses about why only Alaska is doing well. Overall oil companies are not secluded in there, right?

I will support whoever I will want to, but not this idiot, who is now planning to ruin not only mine but my grandchildren future and whom you probably worship everyday 😉

And more and more people understand the true nature of Mobama. The guy is finished!

Hopefully. Do not be so optimistic so soon.

I don't worship anyone, and I was probably as likely to vote for McCain as Obama until Palin showed up to the party.

Alaska collects no income or sales tax from its citizens. It relies very heavily on income from oil companies, and still manages to give away millions each year to its citizens. The fund to which it deposits 25% of the oil revenue is around 30 billion.

So yeah, it would take a dunce to bankrupt that state. And yeah, that state is pretty unique in it's relationship with oil companies.

You're not originally from the U.S., are you?

"You're not originally from the U.S., are you?"
WTF is that???

What all of that has to do with my point that a person functioning well on her post for years is being called "sorry excuse" just because she can't play well the media tricks and the real "sorry excuse" is being excused( pardon my tautology) for his stupidity just on the premise of his education and articulation in public ?

At the top right hand corner of Page 17 of the New York Post of
January 24th, 2009, was a short column entitled "Replacing Michelle"
in the National Review "The Week" column. Here it is, word for word ,
>as it appeared:
>
“Some employees are simply irreplaceable. Take Michelle Obama: The
University of Chicago Medical center hired her in 2002 to run
"programs for community relations, neighborhood outreach, volunteer
recruitment, staff diversity and minority contracting".

In 2005, the hospital raised her salary from $120,000 to $317, 000
nearly twice what her husband made as a Senator.

Oh, did we mention that her husband had just become a US Senator? He
sure had. And that he immediately requested a $1 million earmark for
the UC Medical Center, in fact?.... You betcha by golly….. He surely
did. Way to network Michelle!

But now that Mrs. Obama has resigned, the hospital says her position
will remain unfilled. How can that possibly be??? Especially if the
work she did was vital enough to be worth $317,000?

Oh, by the way, let me add that Michelle's position was a part
time, 20 hour week job at $317,000.00 per year !! . And to think
they were critical of Blagoyovich's wife for taking $100,000 in fuzzy
real estate commission.

Question is…… How did this bit of quid pro quo corruption escape the
sharp reporters that dug through Sarah Palin's garbage and
kindergarten files?”

IT IS TRUE?????

Of course, it is. You know the types ( don't you 😉 ) of the saviors of the world - the ones who are so worried about the "little ones" that they have to make their own living extremely comfortable - in order to be better equipped for taking care of the crowds of the little ones, whose main task is to trust the saviors and never ever question their deeds 😀
