I know this text is REALLY old (1994) but is there any value in reading it just to learn the fundamentals of imaging brain pathology?

Thanks,

tpf

P.S. I mispelled the thread. It's Osborn. All apologies.

I think it would be over kill for a 2nd year med student. It would be more appropriate for a 4th year med student interested in going into radiology, neurology or neurosurgery.

Osborn, (even the 94 edition) is an incredible reference. Sure there are new modalities that have come down the pike in the last 12 years, but the diseases are the same. It is becoming a classic for learning neuroradiology like Felson's is for chest radiology or Dubin's is for EKG. Osborn is a great lecturer and its reflected in the way the book is written. The only downside is that there is no head and neck or spinal content.

An alternative is Neuro requisites. It is comprehensive with respect to covering head and neck and spine, but it is almost TOO thorough with the minutiae and zebras.

Again, assuming you are a 2nd or 3rd year med student I think osborn or requisites is overkill. But if you have time to kill and are so motivated, knock yourself out!

Good luck!
