So when the benzylic carbon is quarternary (has no bonds to H), the reaction does not happen.

What if the benzylic carbon only had 1 hydrogen (making it a tertiary carbon). Does it form a carboxylic acid or a ketone?
 
carboxylic acid. K2Cr2O7/H3O+ will make any benzylic carbon (that isnt tert) into a carboxylic acid
 
I saw somewhere that a carbon with a triple bond (no h's) was oxidized to a carboxylic acid, but I don't believe it. What do you think?
