Destroyer states this statement is true:
"organic compounds can be separated by techniques such as extraction, recrystallization, distillation, thin-layer chromatography, and gas chromatography"
I specifically remember Chad saying that TLC is NOT used for separation because it is a qualitative method to determine a compound's polarity and purity.
what do you guys think?

Chad is wrong, iirc. I was taught that it was, and have seen it referred to as one in multiple places. Might just be another one of those things...

I worked in the lab for a while and we never used TLC as a separation technique...you can't separate you can only test what you have i.e. it's a qualitative method that tells you how pure the compound is..so I am not sure if Chad is wrong...

I think, when in doubt, it's clearly recognized as a separation technique in numerous texts.
