On Kaplan Blue Book w/CD and ADA practice, I am getting 20, 21, 25 respectively on Ochem (Yes, I know the ADA one is easy)....

On the Kaplan subject tests that someone posted (THANKS a BILLION btw) though, I am doing horrible. Can you guys tell me how you are doing on those and how those compare to the others. I have searched and not found that much discussion.

thanks

ps, am i the only one whose morale is like a rollercoaster from day to day? Like I felt great this morning, now I am disillusioned...

I have not taken the test yet but I have heard that the Kaplan subject tests are harder than the real thing. But if you can do well on them then you know that you understand the material. I just finished taking their Bio subject tests and made really bad scores (like 17s!!) but the process of taking them helped cement the material into my brain. So yeah I would suggest studying them even if they seem like overkill. Good Luck 🙂

I agree with the difficulty level... I don't think I do as well as you on the Kaplan CD and the ADA book, but the subject tests are hard for me. I think that its because each test seems to have questions related to a few topics. so if you're weak in those areas, you're more likely to miss a lot of questions. That's what I'm taking from it anyway. It just means work harder I guess.

And yes, I agree with the morale thing. You can do well, and then you can do kinda okay, and then really crappy. it stinks.

Yeah each subject test seems to concentrate on certain topics (like the last bio test had LOTs of ecology and plant questions) but the real test will probably be more balanced with a little bit of everything. I don't think the sub. tests are meant to mimic the real test. They are more like study tools.

And don't get discouraged because even if you do badly on a practice test, you learn stuff from it anyway and only get better.

I hope... I just tried to do some problems from DAT destroyer that I marked because I had trouble with, and I still can't do them... talk about discouraging. :scared:

I just took the DAT this past monday and I was freaking out because I did sooooo poorly on those Kaplan practice tests. I think I was getting less then 50% right with 2 weeks to go, talk about scared! I had O chem about 3 years ago so basically I hard to relearn everything for the test. The real O chem on the DAT is NOT AS HARD as the Kaplan practice tests, just remember the basic comcepts and you will do just fine. When I was taking the test I was like.... this is it? lol I ended up with a 20 for the section which i'm happy about so just don't over stress. Also, the bio/gen chem was also a lot easier then those tests. They were defn good practice though! Good luck with the DAT
