do we have to know mechanisms of the rxns or just products? thanks!

Need to know if it is E1, E2, SN1, SN2 - does a carbocation form or a trigonal bipyramidal transistion state form, etc.

Also know Markovikov's rule...which rxns obey this rule and the ones that don't!

knowing your mechanisms will make it easy for you to know your products
