Branching (literally like a tree branch with lil offshoots), so instead of hexane (C6H14) you could have 2-methylpentane (C6H14). Same molecular formula but it looks different with a "branch" off C2. This would change the NMR because you'd also have a multiplet peak with integration 1, etc.
