Can isopropylbenzene be oxidized by KMnO4 or H2CrO4 into a carboxylic acid? or will that oxidize the isopropyl group to have the H replaced by an OH?
 
Chad talks about how chromic acid can do the same reaction as well.

Also, isopropyl yes! Tert- butyl.. No!
 
Anything that is made out if carbon and has a benzylic hydrogen can be oxidized by KMnO4.
