So I am starting to freak out about the Ochem section. I've been studying from Barrons, Kaplan and Chad's videos but I don't know which to focus my time on.

What do you think are the best methods to study for the ochem section? Any suggestions would be great!

I would focus my time on doing practice problems. I would recommend DAT destroyer if you have it.

Finish the videos as quickly as possible. Spend rest of the time practicing and understanding the reactions.

I am using Chad's video, DAT destroyer, and possibly do ACS orgo.

Check this sheet out. I just posted it on another thread, it should get you started. No need to freak out, just relax, this is supposed to be the easiest section of the test. Just do the videos (Chad's), do his quizzes, and work through the destroyer. What I did was take the "Road Maps" that are in the destroyer and..:

1st - print off an exact copy of the reactions (as it already is)
2nd - white out all the products
3rd - run off about 10 copies per Road Map
4th - go through these with a pencil and red pen
5th - at the end, any of them you miss, red mark them and study them
6th - redo over and over until you can do them with your eyes closed lol!

Maybe this sheet will help a little, but definitely do the above. It will save you time and will allow you to spend more time in the Gen Chem section doing calculations. From what I hear, 15-18/30 of the questions in the OChem section are these reactions alone.

Best of Luck To You and Happy Studying!

Sorry, forgot to post the sheet lol, it's been a long night 😀 For some reason, it will not let me upload them. Go look for the thread named "Gen Chem and OChem Equation sheets"

CHADS VIDEOS, Chads practice problems, and DESTROYER.

I was attending chads review sessions when he was recording the videos, up until two days prior to my exam. I got a 24 in Ochem. I truly found it much simpler than any of the practice exams (topscore and kaplan). Watch the videos and practice with his problem set and DESTROYER.

All the questions were simple reactions, simple carbon and proton NMR, a few acid/base strength, and BP. I got no lab questions.

Feel free to PM me if you have anymore questions.
