Hi
I am on an upward trend however in the summer I tried to be a smartass and take ochem in 6 weeks
I ended up dropping with a W🙁
What really sucks is that for my first exam I got a 100! But then labs started and it was a bit too fast and ended up with a 63 and 58 and I was too overwhelmed
I am retaking it this fall
How badly have I messed up?

A W has minimal impact on your application, and won't hurt your GPA at all. If you don't have a bunch of other withdraws, it shouldn't really hurt you at all. Just get an A when you retake it. :luck:

You also have a nice story you can talk about in essays about all the things you learned about trying to cram too much into too small a time period, value of taking time with basics, value of knowing your limits, etc.

Does it ruin my upward trend ? My advisor said its worse than a C

I had a friend who had a w and got into alot of good med schools(md). He was a minority though so that helped. No one even asked during interviews. I wouldn't worry just do well from here on out and you'll be fine.

funny because I remember my college advisor saying having a W isn't a big deal. your advisor is wrong about a "W being worse than a C". a W will not be calculated into your GPA whereas a C is calculated into your GPA and will bring down your BCPM. if you have 1 or 2 W's in your entire college career it is not something to stress about. you may be asked about it, you may not. many people get into good med schools with a W or 2.
