Oct/Nov edition of (see title)

Doesnt matter if it’s II or accept/reject/waitlist -- as long as you hear back.

I have not heard back from 17/25 schools.

I will be making one for every 1.5 months so those waiting in silence will not be too alarmed b/c a lot of people are waiting to hear back too!

I would include IIs in that. Some states ar different...Texas xD

Not a single school has hit me up since the previous thread :dead: on the exact same count as last time

only heard from 3/14 thus far in the game. 1 reject, 2 interviews. Interviews ended with placement in the "on hold"/"continue to review" column.

On MD side, 7 rejections and still waiting to hear back from 18 (for a total of 25).
On DO side, 1 acceptance, 1 decision this week (post-interview), 5 rejections, and still waiting to hear back from 11 (for a total of 18).

In total, 14/43 responses, waiting on 29.

I have heard from 13 of 33 MD, so waiting on 20.

I wasn't aware exactly how much later the interview cycle was outside of Texas, seems like a lot. I'm done with all my scheduled interviews as of last week, with 2 TX schools out of 10 giving me the silent treatment but 2 out of my 3 OOS apps in that bag as well.
Good luck on interviews and don't give up hope yet!

Posted on the wrong thread lol

Complete for most late july, 10/47 for me, with 2II early in the cycle and 8 rejections, 21% (reapplicant)

Id recommend changing the close date of the poll just to keep it accurate for posterity sake

13/21 schools have gotten back to me, so I just broke 60%. LM~75, ORM.

9 II, 3 R, 1 Hold

Wish more of them were rolling (1 school) as l'll mostly be hearing back in the spring.

Heard back from 12 schools:
4 R
8 II(2 Waitlist at my top choices)
1 hold

Complete early August, heard back from 8 out of 26.

6 IIs and 2 rejections. Not sure what to make of a mid-tier rejection while having 3 top 25 IIs...

8 II's. No reject/accept since pre-match for TX is still 3 weeks away.

Complete mostly late July/early August, 0 II's, 2 Rejections, 1 Hold (re-review at George Washington). Stats: 3.91/515.

I've just about emotionally checked out of this cycle completely. At the beginning of the cycle I was so invested in the process and excited for the future, but now I'm just numb to it all. If I manage to even get one II this cycle, cool; if none, oh well. Life goes on.

To be honest I wouldn't even consider the re-review at George Washington to be a real hold since almost everyone gets it lol.

No rejections/acceptances/waitlists yet, complete mid to late September.

2 II only - puts me at hearing back from less than 10% of my schools.

Complete late July-early August
Applied 25
II - 5
Attended - 2
Accepted - 1, waiting to hear back - 1
Pre-II rejection - 3 (top 20 schools)
Deafening silence - 17

I was really complete in October (don't ask)

So are you counting things like updates about holds to the portal (but not email) as hearing back from a school? Or is this only for IIs and pre-interview rejections?

I've heard back from 3/21, 1 II (state school) and 2 rejections. Anyone want to scream into the silence with me?

Interesting, it seems like the majority are <50% even on sdn, I was getting a very different impression lol

As of 10/25: 100% responses (withdrew from some).

2°: 23
II: 20
IA: 11 so far, attending 3 or four more most likely.
R: 1 (pre-II)
W/D: 2
A: 1

What do you want from medical school? What are you looking for in a school?

Applied to 10 MD and 10 DO for 20 schools total.
Complete between 06/22 -> 08/07 (DO) and 07/21 -> 08/24 (MD).

1 acceptance (DO), 1 post-II hold (MD), 2 pre-II holds (1 MD, 1 DO), 2 rejections (1 MD, 1 DO)

So hearing from 6/20 schools is 30%. I received my 2 IIs in early August and the other 70% has been absolute silence since!!! :bang:

What do you want from medical school? What are you looking for in a school?
I want a school that has:
  • excellent research opportunities
  • excellent clinical sites
  • excellent faculty mentors
  • an environment that emphasizes collegiality and student wellness
  • a curriculum that allows for self-directed learning, one in which I will be able to explore my interests best
  • dedicated step and research time
  • actually integrated interdisciplinary thinking (think sociological perspectives on health and illness, problems plaguing our healthcare system)
  • an overall philosophy that aligns with mine
Many schools advertise all of the above; I want to attend a school that shows evidence of and provides resources to actually achieve the above. I have many interests within and without medicine, and I want a school that lends itself to a nice balance, or at leasts provides me with avenues through which I'd be able to better choose my future path (academic medicine? politics? administrative positions? teaching? etc. etc.)
I honestly believe when you have more than 10 II, you are humble bragging. You can't possibly have 10+ schools you are heavily considering...
Def a humble brag, gotta get them internet points 🙂
What a beast
Says you my ortho man! I just make sure to stay on the threads you're on so that some of that success rubs off😉

You are not alone, in the same boat with you. 0/19. When were you complete?

Just got my first II. Still belong to the 0-15% group, but 1/19 now.

I was complete late September, so I'm not concerned yet. Congrats on your first II!!! I received my first response today too - Hold. I'm just happy it wasn't a straight rejection!

Any reapplicants in this thread? I just got waitlisted from my only interview and just the thought of having to do this again is killing mee

37 total programs applied to. 3R (2 these past 12 hours), No II. Complete early-mid august
