used in variceal bleeding to reduce portal venous pressure as we all know, but FA 2015 says on pg 379 that it inhibits the actions of splanchnic vasoconstriction hormones, while kaplan q bank says the opposite, inhibits splanchnic vasodilatory hormtones thus decreasing portal inflow and helping to decrease variceal bleeding, so which one is it? to cause vasoconstriction wouldnt that also increase the hydrostatic pressure? confused, help!
