Hey everyone, I am getting ready to take my Mcat in May and hit the applications as soon as I can, and have been looking back over things that I think will aid my application (Volunteering at a psychiatric hospital, research, habitat for humanity...) and was left wondering about one more.
I play in a rock band, and have since my freshman year. We got really well known in our area, and traveled over the region (Ohio and Michigan) and even got to play for 3 nationally signed bands (crowds of 1,000+!!). I've just started to wonder if this may actually look bad to an admissions committee, kind of paint me in a bad light. We have done charity shows and benefits as well, but I just worry that I will be thought of as possessing some of the more questionable characteristics that are typically associated with members of a rock band.
I would hope that having a good amount of A's in the more advanced courses (Ochem I,II, Physics I, II, genetics, cell bio and some neurosciences) would demonstrate my devotion to academics, but I just don't know.
Do you think I should still mention the band, or forget about it?
Thank you for your time
