hey guys...i have a 3.2 overall from Hopkins, 3.05 BCPM, 32R MCAT, NJ resident, good EC's, good recs, and am currently in the Georgetown SMP program. what are my odds of getting in somewhere (I got all my secondaries in as of yesterday, sent in AMCAS and was set by 6/20), seeing as I've applied all over and to most any school you can think of that would seem reasonable. also, what kind of GPA do you think I'd need to pull in this program to get in somewhere this year? Hmmm, I think you stand a decent shot. 3.2 shouldnt get you eliminated from too many schools off the bat, and Hopkins is known to be very difficult. Your MCAT is good. Still I would think you need to do very well this first semester to solidify your chances in the event you are waitlisted which is quite possible.

A 3.2 from Johns Hopkins (above the average for premeds there) and a 32R should have put you somewhere out of college. Did the committee deter you like what they do to so many unfortunate souls who made the mistake of enrolling there?

I think if you get 3.6+ in the program this semester (which I have heard is very doable), you will be all set! I am a lower GPA applicant too, doing the BU program (we start tomorrow), and that is what I am aiming for. You're obviously intelligent because your MCAT is good and Hopkins is hard; you just need an extra oomph. You should have a good shot at NJMS and RWJ, which are fairly good bets for an NJ resident with "lower" stats than the average applicant. GOOD LUCK!

Where did you get that from? They tell us the avg gpa of a matriculant from hopkins is 3.6ish, if my memory serves me right. But if it's 3.2 then that gives me hope!

i think that your chances of getting in somewhere are definitely good. it's so hard to point at one another at this phase in the application cycle and say "you're good! no worries!" when we're all shaking, vomiting on ourselves, and crapping our pants. 👍

It's actually around a 3.65, but a 3.2 is more respectable than a 3.6+ from an average state school, IMHO. Cam's MCAT scores proves his quality. He shouldn't need to apply out of college.
