Practice bought a new OEC 9900 GSP. I have heard people talk about downloading their images onto a thumb-drive, and thought some had mentioned you could do this using the new OEC C-arm. However, from the factory, the only option is to burn a DVD.

Has anyone enabled their 9900 to allow downloads to external drives? Or is that not possible with this particular machine?

I heavily evaluated the 9900 a few months ago. I asked and asked again, and at that time, there was NO USB port option. I was shocked about this, but there is no factory option. One of the reasons I went with the Pulsera. I mean, it is 2009 and OEC is telling us this $150,000 computer can't support a USB drive?!! How stupid!

Otherwise a good machine with nice images. It was my second choice after the Pulsera for whatever that is worth to you.

Options:

1. DVD-RW and transfer to your laptop for photoshop.
2. DICOM/PACS- I use eFilm Workstation over the DICOM and can export as AVI or JPEG to my laptop. Our DICOM also has remote login to view images and since my Pulsera is on the network and goes through the RIS (rad software scheduling/mgmt system), I can get my pics over the internet.

Zimm, call my offic and I can get you in touch with Dan (our magical radiology guy). He can tell you how it all works, and can tell you how your system works. He is even working on getting me a firescanner (software between nukes and CT) but the IV is over $2k per study currently.

Consider getting a Medicapture device for about $2500. It downloads the images you want with the touch of a button and they are saved directly to a flash drive. I use it for my crappy old 9400 machine and it works like a charm. No more CDs or hard copy images. I feel like an advertisement - I should have pushed them for more than 10% off when I haggled.

I'm telling you, Phillips Pulsera....
all my pics go on the USB, and onto my server...so easy.

i have the same one for an old OEC 9400 as well. works great. I paid only $1500 2 years ago, sorry. Call Big Horn Biomedical. They sold it to me.

Spoke to the guy there this am, who said Medicapture had cracked down on dealers, and now no one is allowed to discount these devices. They list for $2500.

it sounds like we all had a crappy OEC 9400 with a medicapture device in our infancy-years... that machine is build like a rock.

I also have an OEC 9400 in my office, used only as a backup now...and bought a Medicapture for 1500, however it was their first model. They have several models since then, all more expensive.
