What's up team,

I spent many hours and many rewrites on my PS, and now I'm proud of it.

I also just spent a bunch of hours writing my 15 activities. The thought of rewriting and revising them with the same TLC as my PS seems daunting, especially given we're already a third of the way into June. Yes I'll go over them again, yes I'll get a few folks to read them, but to belabor over every sentence like I did with the PS? I hope not...

So, I'm curious to hear from you all, of the total time you spent on your primary, what percentage of time was for the PS, and what was for the activities?

Cheers.

I don't think I'd have a decent estimate on hours. But I spent about a month and a half writing a few drafts and laying out my activities before I got it where I want it. Sometimes I'd go a week without looking at it and then try to come back to it with a different perspective.
I'd say I spent more time on my activities than my PS ... probably 65/35

@Med Ed has said that he spends more time on the 15 activities than the PS because it's less likely to be written by someone else unlike the PS.

But of course that's one opinion I would at least make sure there are no egregious errors and that it is is clearly written.

Overall, I definitely spent more time writing and revising my PS than my work and activity descriptions. I've been seriously working on my PS on and off for about a month, whereas I hammered out my work and activities over the long weekend. The descriptions still took a few revisions, especially the most meaningful essays, but it definitely wasn't as long or painful as revising my PS. I personally found it much easier to write about my activities because 700 char. per activity means you must be direct, whereas 5300 char. to answer "Why medicine?" and "Who are you/what motivates you?" is much more ambigious.

I spent much more time on PS than my 15 activities. I kind of underestimated the amount of time to write a strong description. As a result, my activities was merely a description of what I did.

I had a pretty extensive CV since freshman year, so 15 didn't take much time. PS was hard, but once it was done, I felt good. Now my secondary essays were tough because I agonized over so many things, hoping the content would work for each school.

I spent maybe 2x more hours on my work/activities as I had 15. Maybe 70% of that time went into the 3 most meaningful. The PS took a good amount of time, but I already knew what I wanted to write long before I started it, so it was a matter of making it well written and polished without much progression of content while I revised it. In the end, it really just depends on which you have a better idea of. If you already know exactly what you have accomplished and how you want to present yourself through your activities, it could take less time than the PS. Personally I just thought about the PS much more before writing it compared to work/activities. Either way, who cares how long it takes you to write each part of the app, spend as much time as you need to make it amazing and representative of yourself, and have people you trust look over it to gauge the impression your writing gives off.

I think OP is just trying to balance writing quality against being verified in the first wave, right? And get a sense of where others are striking the balance?

It took me the course of a couple weeks to write my PS with tons of edits.. I only had 2 people read my activities and those only took a couple days to put together
