Submitted TMDSAS in late September (which is super late since the deadline is Oct 1!!), interviewed at 3 Texas Schools: UTMB, Texas Tech and A&M... and got accepted to my first choice, UTMB, Feb 1!!! Keep the hope 😀

Update time! My last post was in September. So, I applied to 15 schools, completed secondaries at 11, got rejected by 2 (Wake Forest and Mayo), haven't heard anything from 4 schools after being complete (Dartmouth, UVt, Buffalo, Albany). I've had 4 interviews (!) (U of Nevada-Reno, Penn State, Loma Linda, U of Rochester). At the end of February I have an interview for U of Washington. So far, no acceptances, but hoping for one soon.

Here's to an anti-neurotic application cycle! Good job, guys! I'm glad things are going well.

More good news--

Albany interview invite
University of Washington acceptance
Penn State acceptance

Yaaaayyyy!!! August/September AMCAS primary submissions are not a death-sentence! 🙂 Out of 11 schools: 6 interviews and 2 acceptances, so far. Not too shabby. Keep the faith!!

so my update, with a lowish GPA and very high MCAT and secondary completions mostly in sept and early oct - 7 interviews, of which 2 were acceptances, 1 a waitlist, and 4 that I have not heard back from yet (jan/feb interviews). I'm pretty happy with this round, and hoping to hear positive news from 1-2 other schools i'd like as much if not more than my current acceptances. All in all a good cycle - good luck everyone!

Congratulations, tulli! :highfive:

Cant remember the last time I posted here, but I kno it was a really loooooong time ago. But anyway, I think I really need to post an update to give encouragement to any late applicants still waiting to hear. I was not AMCAS verified until Sept. and I have been completing secondaries since then all the way thru Jan. I applied to 12 schools (7 MD 5 DO), and received secondaries from all. I completed 10 (7 MD 3 DO) of those. So far I have been rejected (1 MD 1 DO pre-interview) by 2 schools. I have received invites from 7 schools (5 MD 2 DO). I chose not to attend the 2 DO interviews b/c by the time for the 1st interview I had already had an MD acceptance. With that being said I have received 2 acceptances, 1 hold, and 1 waitlist. I have not yet attended the last interview. I am so thankful to God for the way he has blessed me this cycle. My stats are not stellar and I truly was going to wait until next year to apply. I'm not saying any of this to boast, but to give u guys encouragement that if you keep the faith and dont give up hope it will happen! Good luck everyone!

This is my 1st post here.

I applied really late. My AMCAS wasn't verified until late September. I started submitting secondaries in October and finished mostly by the end of November. Out of about 20 schools that I sent my primary, I ended up completing only about 8-9 because I couldn't afford to pay the secondary fee at the rest (Family emergencies arose and I had to use the money I had saved up). By the beginning of December I got 3 interviews, and then one more in January. I was waitlisted at the first 3 schools I interviewed at, and subsequently accepted to my top choice!! I canceled my last interview.

While this proves once again that applying late is not definitively closing down all your options, I think I would have gotten more interviews and possibly more outright acceptances had I applied earlier... I'm really happy though. I'm going to be attending my dream school!!!!

Hey guys!

To add my 2 cents:

Didn't submit secondaries until late September/early October. I also had a time constraint because I was leaving the country in December (yah, I applied late and needed to interview early. Not the best plan).

Interviews at 9 schools (including 3 top 10 schools)- accepted at all (!). So it's definitely possible to apply late and have success. Good luck to this year's applicants!

Took my MCAT on August 21st. Had already submitted primary before that date (ballsy move, I know). I def think I got rejected pre-interview at harvard because of this.

Honestly, things worked out amazing for me in the long run but I STRONGLY advise people to apply as early as possible.

Any updates here? I would love to know how my fellow late appliers are doing!

Another late applicant here. I wasn't verified til late September and got my MCAT scores back by early October. I ended up with 8 interview offers of which I went to 6, 2 acceptances, 2 rejections and 2 waitlists. My advice to late applicants would be to make sure your secondaries are well-written and really explain why you want to go to the school. Don't try to rush them just to get them in a couple of days early. Good luck!

Applied EDP to state school, but wasn't accepted - so I didn't designate any primaries until early October.

Eventually, though, I got interviews everywhere except one school (I guess I have to second what XVivo said about making sure your secondaries are well-written. I rushed all of my secondaries and didn't notice that I turned in my Dartmouth essay with a couple of huge typos.. got no love from them!) and will be going to Columbia P&S next fall. So it all worked out in the end.

Primary done in September, didn't get all my LORs till October, finally complete end October. 14 schools, 6 interviews, 3 acceptances.

Wish I had applied earlier because I think it hurt me at places like Loyola but overall I am where I belong.

Good luck 10-11's 🙂

AMCAS verified in September, secondaries submitted late october-december. Out of 13 applications, 4 interviews, 2 acceptances, 2 wait-lists. At the places I was accepted, both applications were complete in December. Pretty weird stuff!

And I def. agree with the person a few posts up--if you're gonna apply late, write really good essays! Don't try to rush it b/c when you're that late, a few days isn't really gonna make a difference.

I agree with this.
