Perfect - Did you have any specific reasons to choose a public health job.
yes. a few to be exact.
1. i have a lot of family in kansas and thought my wife and daughter would appreciate us being there.
2. the salary they offered me (125/yr plus 25/yr towads student loans) plus a bonus system where i will get paid $30 per any patient encounters (regardless of what procedure i am performing) over 3200 a year.
3. i think working in such a setting fresh out of school would definitely be a great thing.
4. the clinic received $550 000 from the stimulus package to rebuild a brand new 10 op clinic. the current clinic has chairs and instruments that are probably 100 yrs old. the new clinic will be up and running towards the end of the year.
5. i really wanted to do a start up but with today's uncertain economy that may be a suicide without being full speed in all aspects of the practice.
6. i didnt want to work for organized dentistry where you have the pressure of production and people with a BA degree telling you what the tx plan should be.
7. one month of fully paid vac, 5000 towards moving, 3500/yr towards C.E courses, one week of sick pay, paid subscriptions to ADA and some other orgs, free palm pilot, and some other benefits that i would be eligible for after one yr. oh and i get $500/yr towards any dental tx for myself (lol this makes no sense but oh well).
i really think this was a diamond in the rough and feel lucky to have found it.
i will love going to work every day but probably hate living there. i am a Cali guy and need my NBA basketball and football around me.
